Look up above your brake pedal and you will see the switch.. It will either between the firewall and the pedal arm (switch moves in when you brake).. Or it will be between the pedal arm and the dash (switch moves out when you brake)

if one brake light is off, the other one should be on and you got to check the bulb even if it looks good. if the both brake light bulbs are good and not working then you can go and check the fuse box and check for brake light fuse. if its OK then check the brake switch that usually located on the transmission. Good luck
if the bulbs are ok! check bulb socket to see if you have power.with test light, if not make sure sockets are clean. check the bulbs first, because they are a double filiment bulb. for brakes and tail lights. did you change the correct fuse!! it is located in interior fuse box on drivers side end of dash. its on bottom left side of fuse box. its labled "stp lps". hope this helps,
First, check fuses. If the fuse for tail and brake lights is OK, check the bulbs. If they are OK, you need a new brake light switch, which attached to the brake pedal under the dash. The part should be less than $20. These are a common replacement item on older fords.
ljones, Did you check the "VEH stop" fuse in the left side instrument panel fuse box. There are 3 stop light fuses, 1 for all the stop lights located in the under hood fuse box. 2 in the left side IP fuse box. 1 for the upper stop light and 1 for the lower stop lights. The fuse box in the IP is where the upper and lower stop lights split. Let me know.
Look for broken wires or with a test light. follow the wires checking from the fuse box back to the brake lights checking every so often in between the light wires and the fuse box.
ok supaxang, could this solution be as simple as replace the 2 rear bulbs? The brake light and tail light (parking light) are the same bulb, 2 filaments, one for brakes, one for tail lights. If the the tail light filament burns out, the brake light will continue to work ok. It is quite possible that both tail lights burned out, and the brake light filaments are good and still working. Replace w/ bulb #2057. Let me know if this fixes it, if not, I'll keep working on it.
