1996 F-350 7.3L E4od-- Won't Shift past 2nd.

1996 F350 7.3L PS Turbo Reg cab 4x4, not a crew cab.
E4od Tranny--OD light NOT blinking. Won't shift beyond 2nd and feels like it might be slipping (maybe). Need to know where to begin to narrow down the problem.
Linkage is fine and engine runs great. Nothing screwy with warning lights or mechanical connections.

Just had both o2 sensors replaced and now the truck won't shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. Evidently it had been slipping a bit before but now it won't shift into 3rd at all. The tranny is an E4OD......

O2 Sensors --- not related to shifting

New transmissions --- are only new once
When installed on the assy line

Has to be rebuilt if necessary

PO 147 ---O2 Sensor Heater (Bank 1 Sensor 3) don't have one of those
PO714 -- Trans Temp Sensor -heat for the slipping
PO 471 --- Exhaust Pressure Sensor -don't have that either

Need a new guy
Not very professional were they

O.D light blinks, won't shift, runs rough at low rpms 2003 F-150

This is likely your electronic speed sensor. On my 2003 F150 it would rev quite high before finally shifting into 2nd. and my O.D light would blink also. The speed sensor is located under the vehicle about halfway back on the frame on the passenger side. The part costs about $70 and is a fairly easy repair.

1999 F-350 super nduty 4wd wont shift into reverse and the od light is flashing on and off and won't shift into od.

sounds like you've got the a4Od blues save up your money your gonna need some tranny work done soon

the od lite blinking is an indication that the transmission has a fault code find a scan tool and retrieve it so you have an idea of what's wrong and an estimate of what it's gonna cost to fix it

E4OD starts in 2nd or 3rd when cold

The E4OD is a complicated tranny and unfortunately prone to many problems. There are three shift controlling solenoids inside the tranny mounted to the valve body. Without being able to actually drive to evaluate it makes it very hard to give you a starting point for trouble shooting. I have rebuilt many of the E4OD transmissions over the years and found them prone to many problems. That's why Ford quit using them. A tranny shop can hook up to two different line pressure ports to evaluate the problem. But, be warned they are going to recomend a rebuilt be installed. You will be looking at around $ 3300.00 dollars for the rebuilt unit.

1998 F150 Reg Cab 4x4 won't shift to 3rd.

If there is a problem with the 3-4 solenoid then a check engine light would be on or the OD light would be flashing. Read the faultcodes and see what is there.

Transmission won't shift properly (2 wd ) speedo does not work

Its weird but I had a fuse blow out awhile back that is the same fuse that works the cab lights when you open the doors. When this fuse went out it also made it shift odd and hard when it did shift. Since it is only intermittent in your case, It may just be a weak fuse.
