Car bogs down after getting hot, service engine light flashing, 95 ford taurus gl . I got a computer diagnostic done, said random misfires, and the 2 "O2" sensors. However, the tech told me it was the coil pack. I replaced that, ran well, but today started bogging down again. Seems like could be catalytic converter, acts like it isn't getting gas.

Have the following tests performed : fuel system pressure test cylinder balance test as well as a injector balance test. Preferable an ASE Certified Tech will do the testing.Depending on what he/she says wel'll take it from there. Gotta know why its misfiring before we do anything else. Cat and 02 sensor respond to engine's combustion process
exhaust product.Lets see what the testing says.

2009 toyota corolla, check engine light flashing and engine sputtering. When driving it will randomly go up to 3000 rpms and then bog down. Why.

You need to pull the fault codes with a code reader, you have a misfire in the engine, the fault code will indicate which one, then you do the needed diagnostics to pin down the cause of the misfire.

well..fuel injection systems are more than the electronic part. I suspect you are dealing with compression or injector fouling issues..

Mercury cougar 1997 flashing engine light

When your engine light flashes about 95 percent of the time (f not more) means that your vehicles computer (PCM) has detected a misfire and that the misfire at the time it is flashing that the misfire is bad enough to cause damage like to the catylist converter(s), oxygen sensor and a number of other things. You need to find out which cylinder has the misfire. You can go to your local auto parts store and most of them will pull diagnostic trouble codes (DTC\'s) for free. Now once you get the DTC(s) you can narrow down whcih cylinder(s) has the misfire by what DTC they pulled. For example a DTC of P0301 means a misfire in cylinder 1, P0302 would be cylinder #2 and so forth. A P0300 means multiple random misfire a much further testing needs to be done in order to diagnose. Say you have a P0301, depending on your engine size you will need to isolate cylinder # 1 to diagnose. If you have a 3.8 liter engine in most cases it\'s the fuel injector ot a bad spark plug wire for that cylinder that is bad but if you have the 4.6 liter most common cause is a bad ignition coil for that cylinder as they have a seperate coil for each cylinder but it could be an injector too instead of the coil. I\'m just giving you the most common causes but diagnosing needs to be done in order to replace the faulty part(s). Other causes of a misfire are crank or cam position sensors, a vacuum leak, Faulty spark plug wire (if you have the 3.8), engine problems (internal), electrical and/or wiring problem or even the PCM. Many other things can cause this, these are the most common. Gatting that DTC is vital in order to diagnose. If you need further help as far as testing procedures once you get any DTC\'s I\'ll be happy to helps you diagnose the problem. Hope I was able to help you understand what\'s going on...

I have a 96 ford taurus and the check engine light is flashing on and off and is putting like a truck.

The flashing service engine light indicates a misfire. You probably need a tune up. Replace the spark plugs and plug wires. That should be done every sixty thousand miles. The fuel filter should be replaced every two years. Get the engine computer scanned for free at Auto Zone and post the codes here for more help.

Engine dies 95 taurus

It is most likely the TFI ignition module, replace it, don't use anything but the FORD part, the aftermarket modules are very poor quality, I have done hundreds of TFI"s and know this for a fact.

97 ford taurus: Cylinder 2 misfire

Assuming the plugs and wires have been changed. I would look at the bottom of the coil pack. They tend to crack and short out.

Or if it's got coil packs they will also crack and short out.
