Most likely:
1. The battery has a dead cell.
2. The battery terminals need to be cleaned. Remove both battery cables and clean cable clamps and battery terminals. May not need a boost.
3. The negative cable is loose where it is connected to engine ground. Or damaged, corroded, or otherwise not making a good connection.

Truck wont start

It could be the fender mounted starter relay under the hood. Or if you took off the small wire at that relay (its from the ignition switch), it should have voltage when the key is held in start. If it does have power in start, probably the relay. If no power in start, either the switch or the neutral safety switch is acting up.

Ran oil out in 2005 chevy equinox. it stalled and died while i was driving it. had it towed home. it would crank over, but wouldn't start. finally battery went dead. jumped it, but idiot on the other...

if you own a charger, connect it to your battery and charge to full.. then disconnect the negative with the key on..this kills the entire car computer and all..shut the key off and reconnect the negative cable tight..turn the key to the on position DO NOT TRY TO START.. let all the dash indicators go out first..then try to start..otherwise all the codes held in the computer need erased..may require the help of an auto electric shop..or parts store..

Truck is draining charge and not charging battiers

I just went thru same thing with my 2003 f-350 diesel. I hooked up my horse Trailor and drove to Von's parked went in came back out and truck was dead. I tried to jump it didn't work. Then over next two hours two tow truck Drivers hooked up to both batteries full power charge direct to my truck and would not start.
End story required two new batteries alternator and cilanoid discussed above. In other post. Also contributing to the cause was really badly coroded cables they looked good at the connection point but wher discovered to be coroded inside the tubing just above the end connections so bow it has all been replaced and I have had no trouble since. Hope this helps. Tanya

My friend has on 04 Murano. She couldn't start it due to either battery or alternator. (We're yet to find out) We had to put it in neutral to move it out from her parking spot in order to try and jump...

Most cars have a release button under the steering wheel. It will be recessed and hidden under a plastic plug. You would have to use a long screwdriver to stick in the hole and push on the release button. I think the button releases the gear shift so it can be moved the the park position. It's unusual that you could not jump start the vehicle. I have run into a few cars that the battery was so drained that they would not take a jump until the jumper cables were left hooked up for a few minutes with the jumper car running at fast idle. Since the battery went dead, there may be an issue with the GM anti theft system. Sometimes the security system, will prevent the car from starting, even with a new battery. If it happens, you will have to take the car to a dealership to get the car started. More of GM's faltering engineering.

Replace the battery. Draining a car battery down completely will cause damage and decrease its capacity. If the battery was more than a couple of years old then it's time to replace.

Have the alternator and battery checked. Startor may be flat, if it is, hit with a hammer until you get a new one. Recommend calling salvage places or junk yards for parts due to the year.

2000 Dakota battery problems

It's 100% possible bud. I've actually had a battery blow out on me at 3 days old. I was just driving to the store and I shut the car off. I went and got some stuff and came back to a 100% dead car. It had a new altenator and the battery was all but three days old. It was so dead that even the overhead light wouldn't come on. I got a jump start from a friend and made it to napa. They tested the battery and said it reads perfect until you try to draw energy from it.

They told me it was a shorting cell, and that the battery was shot. It was replaced for free; as should yours if you still have the warranty information.
