If you have an aftermarket intake on the jeep the throttle body is making the whistle... there are many aftermarket throttle body spacers out there that can eliminate this...
if you dont than I think that we have the same problem... might be a vacuum leak if the jeep idles funny or it could be an exhaust manifold leak... I'll let you know if I figure out mine. :)

I have a 2003 Jeep Wrangler that has a high pitch SQUEALING sound when I release the accelerator. Any ideas what's causing it or how to fix it?.

I know i have the same problem, and i also noticed than when i open the Hood the whistle just stops, so i figure out it must be some air cycling in or out osmewhere, I found out my air intake connected to throttle body was misplaced a weird gap was left open allowing air to whistle. u might wanna check there

Sounds like a vac leak, could be the power brake booster or a hose.

2004 honda odyssey making whistle noise

I know this original question was written quite a few months back but I was wondering if you ever found out what the high pitch sound was. I just purchased a used 2005 Honda Odyssey and it is doing the exact same thing. Any advice?

Could be the squeler on the brakes. Does that to let you know it's time for brake job. Have your brakes checked

Whistling from engine

This is a symptom of the inlet manifold gasket having a leak. The whistling is air going in through the small leak/hole in the gasket. With the throttle butterfly shut, air is getting sucked in the only way it can.Try tightening the inlet manifold bolts 1st.But more than likely the gasket needs replacing.Hope this helps

When first driving, I hear a high pitched whistling sound while my foot is on the accelerator. As I pick my foot off the accelerator, the sound will stop completely or after a moment or two and then return...

I have the exact same problem, however reversed. My whistling sound stops when I accelerate and starts when my foot is off the accelerator. Frustrates me and am afraid to have it looked at for fear of the cost of fixing this problem. Have you since discovered what the problem is or was?

Bogs out when i accelerate

plug wires!? They go bad over time, but may still look ok from outside ... get an ohm meter and pull a wire and check ... more than 500 ohms per foot is no good..... Good high quality wires will be no more than 150 ohms per foot.

My 2004 Jeep Wrangler Stutters When Accelerating Slowly

This seems to be the same problem with the cherokee and the 2003 300m,i think the injectors are very sensitive to huge amounts of fuel coming to the merge point at once and as a safety feature will not let anything over a factory set over amount pass through, just my opinion!
