How do you reset the anti-theft system on a Hyundai Sonata?
Use the ignition key to unlock the Sonata doors, then open the door and enter the driver's seat. Put the key into the ignition and turn the ignition cylinder clockwise as far as it will go before cranking the Sonata engine. Leave the key here for 30 seconds to deactivate the system.
Open the hood and look on the back side of the head lights for the wires running to them. With the lights off turn the houseing to remove the bulb> when replaceing don not touch the bulb with bare skin the oils will burn it up or even catch a fire..
You are correct in your assumption about a relay... there are two relays. One is for 'LOCKING' the other is for 'UN-LOCKING.' They are both labeled as "LOCK" relays (1 & 2). You can verify if a relay is bad by swapping one with the other. If the problem moves to 'unlocking' the doors, but will NOW LOCK - the relay is bad. If not, further troubleshooting is necessary.
open the hood there is a round black or gray cover that twist quarter turn.then the bulb is held on with a wire clamp that is a tick to un snap .you may need to look at a picture to understand.
