One suggestion on changing the filter and changing the oil in an automatic transmission. When you take off the bottom pan of the tranny, you are only able to drain about 1/3 of the tranny oil that is in the tranny. So you can change your filter and replace a third of the oil and not be a whole lot ahead from when you started. Taking it somewhere where they do a transmission flush is different in that they hook hoses up to the parts of the tranny so all fluids are flushed from the transmission so when you are done, you have fresh oil and a good filter. My suggestion would be to either pay the fee to have it flushed or don't do it unless you have the stuff to be able to flush the tranny.

Finding where to put transmission fluid can be a bit of a challenge on some cars. In fact there are some transmissions that you can't even add fluid to.But that's not the case on your vehicle.

First confirm the level of fluid before filling it.==========For exact transmission fluid replacing/filling procedure.Go through the list of help links below:-----its having complete step by step procedure.Click the link :----

Where is the transmission drain plug for 2004 trailblazer

Hi.

The Trailblazer transmission has no factory installed drain plug. To drain the ****** fluid you need to work from underneath the truck and drop the transmission pan off.

700r trans works 1, 2, and 3. after a few miles third drops out, engine runs like its in neutral. manually move to first or second and grabs again but no third until it stops for a while.

From the description it sounds like you could use new transmission fluid and a filter. It can be a messy task, but not all that difficult. You can pick up the gaskets, fluid and filter at your local auto-parts store along with a Haynes or Chilton's manual specific for your vehicle that will give you step by step instructions on how to perform an automatic transmission fluid and filter change.

2004 Dodge Dakota V8 that is Idling very rough and the engin stops at times, and the automatic transmission is also not shifting smoothly.

transmission probably needs fluid and filter change. as for the the engine not running smootly, it may be in need of a tune up, you know, changing air filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires... or it could be a weak fuel pump.

What is the recommended service for 2004 chevy

Service your cooling system every 5 years or 150,000 miles. The GM Dex Cool has a life of 5 years or 150,000 miles which ever comes first. Replace the thermostat also and buy the fail safe thermostat, it cost a bit more but worth it.

Service the engine (spark plugs and wire) every 100,000 miles or till engine management prompt attention. (service engine light DTC code)

Service the transmission every 3 years or 60,000 miles, replace the transmission oil and filter. Transfer case fluid and differential fluid.

Service the engine oil and filter every 6 months or 3,000 miles. Lube Chassis

Service the air filter and cabin air filter, wiper blades every 15,000 miles or once a year.

Don't know how many quart capacity, or the proper proceedure

Your trans takes 7.4 quarts of Trans SynD,you won't need this much as there will be fluid left in the torque converter.Pull all the pan bolts except on one end just loosen them, this will allow you to drop just one end of the pan to drain the fluid, pull the rest of the bolts and clean the mating surfaces, pull the old filter off and install the new one.Re install the pan with a new gasket using a criss cross pattern to torque the bolts. The bolts should be torqued to about 18 ft/lbs.Add new fluid(about 5 quarts to start)start the truck and with the your foot on the brake go through all the gears, let it stay in each gear for a few seconds allow the gear to engage and try to move the truck, this allows fluid to move into the respective valve assemblies.Let the truck warm completely and check the fluid level.Add if needs it,and run through the gears again.Check the fluid level again and add till full.Check the pan for leaks if there is re torque the bolts in a criss cross pattern again and this should take care off it.That should take care of it.It wouldn't hurt to pick up a manual for your specific year and model as these are general instructions, and a manual will have the specifics for your truck,Hope this helps and have a good day!
