Mercedes s500 radio code i replaced my battery and now the radio is asking for a code and i am not the originalowner of the car

Whereever you bought this radio should have had a fit guide for your car, a lot of early 2000's s500 Mercedes Benz will not allow you to change the radio, not saying your model won't just that a lot of them won't.
Go back to where you bought it and ask TO SEE the fit manual.

Hello, Yes, many MB cars have security codes built into the stereo header units, including my own, (a theft deterant) You never really need to input it til you lose all battery power. If you have the orig. owners manuel it may still be in there. If not you may be able to get the code from the MB dealership using the vin number. Hope this helps a bit.

The E2 code happens when the c/d changer and or the radio amp is not in the
"loop".
You should check and confirm that the both of them are pluged in
properly. If one of the components are unpluged it will cause the code .NOT: BEFORE YOU PERFORME NEXT STEP MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR RAIDEO CODE! The older cars wiring harness do get coroated sometimes. You could always unplug your neg. side to the battery, Unplug the amp and cd change lightly brush over with a scotch bright pad and blow off the dust,, then plug it back in. reconnect the battery and check it. You have to contact the Mercedes Dealer with your Serial Number of your RADIO, they have the codes

Please remove the radio and supply me with the last 4 digits of the Radio Serial Number so that I can give you the code.

Only radio and some trouble codes can be cleared.If you have no warning lamps illuminated (such as MIL)
you can remove and charge the battery.

Battery base has a device that clamps the battery on a step/notch on the side. Use a ratchet with an extension to loosen. Once it is loose you can remove the battery.

go to Mercedes dealer give them your VIN, ask them to look on the VMI for the radio code. If the radio is original, that code will unlock the radio. If it has been replaced or the code does not work you willhave to pull out the radio and give the dealer the serial number to get the correct code.
