Need to know how to get to the blower motor resistor for '02 mits

I have an '02 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ edition and I had the same problem with the water, noise and only working in position 4. I took it in had it diagnosed and bought the parts ( blower motor and blower motor resistor) Got the blower motor replaced but not sure exactly where the resistor is located. Took the glove compartment out but not sure what it is next too, in, or behind from there. I've come across a few different posts and each give the general location but nothing precise. I was wondering if I can get something a little more detailed before I have to go rooting around and removing a bunch of things?

Brooke_lacey, I know it's been a while since you asked for help with this problem, so I hope you see this post. I'm trying to rewire my Blower switch on the dash and have already discovered your problem. To find the Blower Resistors, look to the bottom left of the Blr Motor Housing, you'll see a jack with 4 wires; the amt. varies between models. (not the pair that is jacked into the Motor which is its pwr supply, which is a GREEN and a BLACK/WHITE STRIPE pair). The female end of the Resistor Pack is recessed into the housing and screwed on with 2 screws. That is the Resistor (blr control unit) Pack. You may take it to the Dealer for replacement. Newer models carry a transistorized control unit in same location, so wiring is a little different. The resistors are wire-wound with heat dissipators to avoid burn-out, but they break down after a few years. I kinda repaired mine, and I'm in the process of installing a substitute blr switch on the Dash... Mario

How difficult is it to replace the blower motor on the 2002 Lancer OZ raaly sport

somewhat easy if you know what you are doing. Its mostly common sense and time factors to this but also safety as well. If you know where it is at just make sure that you unplug the negative battery cable always when before you are working on any car.

LOCATION OF BLOWER RESISTER

The Lancer blower motor's are known to heat up and burn out. If you remove it, it is labeled with "Do Not Repair", but it is possible. If you look inside of the block, you will see a flap sticking up - that needs to be soldered down in order to work in the 1 - 3 positions.
The Blower resistor is located on the passenger side under the dash, in the air plenum left of the blower motor.
Thank you for using fixya, and good luck

Blower moter resistor location 03 lancer oz ralley

It is under the dash on the passenger side close to the blower fan. Follow the wires, there should be a connector visible for the resistor on the housing. The resistor is usually held in place by a couple screws.
Check the pic. #10 is the resistor pack.

Mitsubishi Lancer ES '02 - Rattling noise in 1st gear...

I think you might need to ask someone to throttle up the car and you look underneath to try locating the rattling noise. Don't forget that this model runs the exaust pipe in front of the motor so it might be an exaust rattle as well??
Cheers
