SOURCE: replacing ignition coil on a 2002 VW jetta 2.0 GLS

The secondary aux air pump needs to be removed in order to access the coil pack secured to the block. Remember the bolt for the coil needs to be torqued down to 7ft lb.

I have a 98 vw jetta gls... the transmission drops into neutral and slams into first gear after coming to a complete stop.... can you help me????

you may have a fluid leak that has left the pan next to empty. check the fluid level, and add if needed. VW need specific tranny fluid. Mobil 1 Dex III will work though.

My 1998 VW Jetta GL - Ignition Switch

It could just be out of adjustment. I recommend going to a dealership for the part. The VIN number should identify your car specs exactly to avoid getting the wrong part

Finding Thermostat on 98 Jetta GLS

Its to the right of the water pump towards the bottom of the engine.. Follow your lower radiator hose. Make sure to get some G12 coolant from VW before you do it. If you mix the coolants they turn into a gel that will cause you to overheat.
