Why is my jeep stuck on defrost?

you have to check vacuum canister and vacuum lines. when a vacum line is cracked or canister has a crack you cant control air directing doors in hvac system, becasue engine creates vacuum and this canister is connected to vacuum lines and you can only control hvac system when vacuum exist on electric panel equipped Ac systems, you do not need vacuum to control blending doors. there are electric motors.

1993 jeep cherokee country blower stuck on defrost.

Sounds like a VAC. Line came off or is cracked, a vacuum leak causes the heater to go into default mode( defrost ) for safety reasons...

I have a 93 Jeep Cherokee. The blower motor for A/C / heat has stopped working and I was told it could be either a relay or a blower motor resistor. How do I determine which part I would need ?

You will have to test those parts to see which one is bad......either that or replace both parts, one at a time, and hope you get the right on, on the first try. Also, when the blower resistor goes bad, it usually still works on the highest speed but not any others.
BTW, has anyone tested the actual fan blower motor, to see if IT might be bad?

Per your description it would appear the blower motor has failed. Have you checked for voltage at the motor and the motor ground ?
