Car is a citroen picasso 2lt diesel hdi car wouldnt start new lift pump fitted in tank. Car started and ran ok for 10 mins then engine managment light came on and now car wont rev and runs on when switched off will idle perfectly .
Under the bonnet on the back of the mechanical pump there is a unit held in by 2 bolts
remove this unit and on the end there is a tiny filter
this will need cleaning because when the lift pump brakes down tiny parts of it get sucked up through the pipes and clog the filter
it may be best to feplace the fuel filter aswell

Have a load test done on the battery as the glo-plugs should get very hot very quickly. Diesel engines have to have a high rpm crank speed or they will not start and will leave unburnt fuel in the cylinders ( wet glo- plugs). Every indication is that the battery is flat or is not the right capacity for the car.

you ned to take wipers off
take the front sheild off to access it
undo plugs and pipes then pull up
change the litle computer modur from old filter to new one
refit
them use the pump on top off engine to pump the diesel in the fiter
First easy start is bad for the motor, it sounds like fuel starvation, could be a bad delivery pump in the tank, check in the fuel filter, any aliminium powder in the bottom (it should be brim full of fuel) it a tel tale of a bad pump. They are available cheaper on ebay.
Have you driven through deep water? Many possible faults, main ones are:- Air or water in the diesel. Use of Biodiesel/veg oil Faulty injector (uncommon) Crank Sensor Leaking injector sealing washer. Lift pump in fuel tank has broken up, particles may have reached injection pump and damaged it.
Sounds like an air leak or the tank pump cannot keep up with demand (the supply pump in tanks do give trouble (a pressure gauge between tank and engine would tell, make sure it is visable when driving, I used to tape it to the bonnet with masking tape.
