Speedometer and tach suddenly dop..more like flutter..to zero

I think they're probably correct.

sounds like cam sensor bad

Probably has bad circuit in ignition module. Remove and have checked for free at any major parts supplier. If it checks out, suspect coil.

speed sensor back of gearbox failing

Do the following:1)key in the ON position:remove the 7.5 gauge fuse.Tach needle should read "0:". 2)put it back,go on the engine and unplug the green plug on the igniter -the big one,with 5 or 6 wires on it.The needle on tach reading should be zero.If not you have a short circuit on the black wire between that plug and the plug on the conbination meter.3) If the reading is zero with the plug disconnected,the black wire for the tach is short-circuited inside the igniter. I had that happen to my Jetta you need a new cluster. This is all the gauges.

check your speedometer cable it runs from your transmission to your speedometer it is what determines your speed if that cable is loose from your tanny then push it back in i hope this helps

there are rechargeable aa batteries that wear out over few years and have to be replaced behind the tach on some cars.. I just did it on a BMW and the tach started waorking again as well as the gas mileage indicatoor gauge
