Your speakers are accessible from the trunk. Get in the trunk and you will see a cover that is removeable.

If I remember right, you have to reach your hand in there and remove the clips that hold it in place. you should just be able to flip the clips.

From the trunk area. You would need to sort of lay down in the trunk ( Not comfortable! ) and look up at the back deck and you will be able to see where the screws are to drop the speakers down. There may or may not be plastic or insullation that you need to pull down first though. Hope it helps!

I just replaced mine on my 2002 Diamante LS yesterday. It really isn't that difficult. To get to the front door speaker you will need to remove the door trim panel. This is done by pulling out on the bottom part of the panel. I used a flathead screwdriver to help with the separation. Just be careful not to scratch anything.

There are 4 or 5 clips that lock the panel on to the door frame. After you have pulled the clips out you will want to lift up on the separated panel as it hangs on a rail adjacent to the window. Pull the panel out far enough to reach behind and disconnect the various wiring clips. They have quick disconnect fittings and come out easily. You will also need to disconnect the door interior light by rotating the base about a half turn to get it out of the removable panel.

Once you have removed the door panel you will have full access to the speaker frame mounting. It has a removable plastic frame that you screw the new speakers in to. It attaches to the door frame with 5 or 6 Phillips type screws. I found it easier to remove the mount and get it ready to accept my new speakers. I just srewed it back on before actually attaching the speakers.

While the dealer spec for door speakers on a Diamante is a 6 3/4" speaker, a 6 1/2" will work just fine if you have a drill to pre-drill new screw holes. Just line the new speaker up on the speaker mount, mark where the new holes should be and then go ahead and drill them. Make sure the drill bit isn't bigger the the screw. It is a machine type of a thread and is easy to self thread with a regular phillips screwdriver.

After you have the speaker mount ready to accept your new speaker you can go back to your car, screw the mount back on to the door frame. Next attach the two speaker wires to the back of the new speaker. White goes to the positive post. (You might need to change the fitting type to match the car wiring and the new speaker) You can get some quick connect friction fittings and put one on the end of each wire that attaches to the speaker. Walmart, Autozone, Radio Shack all have these as they are readily available.

With the speakers in place, just reverse you installation of the door panel. I found it was easier to roll the window down so I could hang the panel back on the channel. Line up the clips and the bottom of the door, push in and you will feel and hear them engage. Once you are sure they are lined up correctly, go ahead and give it a good push where each clip attaches to make sure its on tight.

All done, enjoy your new sound system.

Most time the rear speaker (package self) is held in by a metal spring clip over a black carboard jute felt filled enclosure, unclip this retainner and speaker comes right out.
