All doors lock and unlock via remote and door buttons. But, can't get rear hatch to even make a "reaction sound" when I press an unlock or lock button.
Check the unlock mechanism for the hatch. These are controlled by an electrical motor pulling a cable. If the cable came loose you might or might not hear the click click that it makes. I would also check the fuses and relays related to the system. Usually if you can get the interior panel off all the innards are exposed. I would suggest pulling that panel off, then triggering the keyless remote and see if anything moves, that might pinpoint where it has gone bad.
There is a little plastic piece that turns everything. Only plastic part on there. If you can turn the key, push the button and open the glass, but cannot open the hatch or simply push the button without using the key, I guarantee that is your problem. Unfortunately you can't buy the 50 cent part that broke. You have to buy the $200 entire mechanism. Poor engineering.
My 2006 gmc yukon rear door and glass door does not lock and unlock.
If it locks and unlocks with key, the lock is fine. So that leaves the electric motor or wiring. To determine this you will need a test light and will have to remove the inner hatch panel to get to the motor. Just check it with the test light for ground and current when you use the remote if you get current and ground. replace the electric motor and you will have it fixed.
