1989 Camaro with stock 305. Was running fine when it suddenly died. Could start with feathering the accelerator but spits and shudders horrible. Can not drive. Had to tow home. I have replaced the distributor cap and rotor with the same results. Could it be clogged fuel filter? Fuel pump? Bad coil? I am not sure if it is fuel or fire. The car is not driven regularly only racking up 1300 miles in two years. It sits in a shop most of the time. Thanks....
Your fuel may have broken down and will not fire correctly or maybe your computer went out try tapping on the side of the computer case with the handle end of a screw driver to see if you might have a faulty board inside sometimes that helps the connection and it may run better.
Spray some brake cleaner in the throttle body to keep it running and keep spraying and see if you can rev it up. If this produces better results then check fuel pressure. Most likely time for a pump. If this happen all of a sudden I would not suspect the fuel filter as being the cause and I would also replace it with the new pump.
