The car starts and then cuts itself off and this is after a new water pump, timing belt, timing tensioner was installed. First the car alarm sets itself off and then the car shuts off even after we turn the alrm off with the remote. It will not stay running after the parts were put on. At first the shop said it was the O2 sensor and then he said it was the alarm so we put a new battery in the alarm remote so it would work and turn the alarm off but the car still won't stay running.

SOURCE: My car alarm is blinking

you can try switching the key to the "on" position then open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and reconnect after 2minutes. this will allow the alarm to be '"reset" and will recognize that you have the key for the vehicle.

SOURCE: Car won't start even after new battery purchase

Alternator problem, the alternator charges the battery when car is running, so it has probably died now. Was working at reduced capacity for a while, which is why you were only getting a partial charge for some time. Now you have an open circuit completely as alternator has failed completely, time for a visit to an auto electrician. PS replacing acid in battery with distilled water is not a good idea. It probably was time for a new battery anyway.

SOURCE: engine cranks car won't start

Sorry..... 1 notch off is just not good enough. It has to be exact , then if it doesn't run start looking at other posibilities.

Remember that the camshaft turns twice eash time the crank turns once. The distributor rotor works off a gear on the cam.
Your rotor could be off a bit , or it could look exactly perfect the way it was when tou took it out , and still be 180 degrees off.
You have to get your engine to "top dead center" and make sure everything is the way it should be.

A timing chain ( or belt ) can cause permanent and fatal damage to the valve train and pistons in motors that are "interference engines" Find out weather yours is. In a non-interference engine , the clearance between the valves and the pistons is large enough to alow them to move out of time without crashing into each other. An interference engine is not so forgiving.

The fact that your engine cranks makes me hopefull that it is a non interference engine , and that damage has not been done.

Try to find a haynes manual for you vehicle , it will walk you through the steps for most repairs.

I have no clue on how to replace water pump on a 1995 chrysler cirrus 2.5L. I have to do this myself I dont have the money for a garage.

This is found on the autozone.com website.

2.5L Engine
See Figures 3 through 7
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Place a large drain pan under the radiator drain plug. Drain and properly contain the engine coolant.

This procedure requires removing the engine timing belt and the auto tensioner. To help assure proper alignment at assembly, it may be helpful to set the engine at TDC on No. 1 compression stroke. This should align all timing marks on the crankshaft sprocket and both camshaft sprockets.
  1. Remove the accessory drive belts and crankshaft damper.
  2. Remove the right engine mount. This requires safely supporting the engine with a floor jack and wood block so the mount can be removed.
  3. Remove the timing belt covers.
  4. Remove the timing belt and tensioner.

WHER IS THE WATER PUMP

Try Chilton's or All Data for instructions. This is a 4.5 -5 hour ordeal for a professional and a 2 day mess for an amateur. Plus you must remove the timing belt on the 2.4L 4 Cylinder to get to the pump. Mess up here and you can damage your engine. WATER PUMP is sign with the ITEM 5 in the next diagram...

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
This procedure requires removing the engine timing belt and the auto tensioner. The factory specifies that the timing marks should always be aligned before removing the timing belt. Set the engine at TDC on No. 1 compression stroke. This should align all timing marks on the crankshaft sprocket and both camshaft sprockets.

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle to a level that allows access from above and below.
  2. Remove the right inner splash shield.
  3. Remove the accessory drive belts.
  4. Place a drain pan under the radiator drain plug. Drain and properly contain the cooling system.
  5. Support the engine using a floor jack and block of wood, then remove the right motor mount.
  6. Remove the timing belt, tensioner and camshaft sprockets.

WARNING With the timing belt removed, DO NOT rotate the camshaft or crankshaft, or damage to the engine could occur.

To install:

  1. Thoroughly clean all sealing surfaces. Replace the water pump if there are any cracks, signs of coolant leakage from the shaft seal, loose or rough turning bearings, a damaged impeller or sprocket, or a loose or damaged sprocket flange.
  2. Install a new rubber O-ring into the water pump.
Make sure the O-ring is properly seated in the water pump groove before tightening the screws. An improperly located O-ring may cause damage to the O-ring and cause a coolant leak.

  1. Install the water pump and tighten the bolts to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  2. Using a cooling system pressure tester, pressurize the cooling system to 15 psi and check for leaks. If okay, release the pressure and continue the engine assembly process.
  3. Rotate the water pump by hand to check for freedom of movement.
  4. Install the rear timing belt cover.
  5. Install the camshaft sprocket(s), timing belt and tensioner. DO NOT allow the camshafts to turn while the sprocket bolts are being tightened, in order to maintain timing mark alignment.

WARNING Do not attempt to compress the tensioner plunger with the tensioner assembly installed in the engine. This will cause damage to the tensioner and other related components. The tensioner MUST be compressed in a vise.

How to replace water pump on 2000 volkswagon beetle with1.8 liter turbo engine?

The following steps need to be taken to remove the pump.

1. Remove the ribbed belt. Compress the tensioner and remove the belt. Remove the ribbed belt tensioner.

2. Remove the upper timing belt cover.

3. Align your timing belt marks. The following pictures are for the cam timing mark, the flywheel timing mark for an automatic, flywheel timing for a manual and the marks on the harmonic balancer.

4. loosen the timing belt. There is a 13mm head nut that keeps the tensioner in place. Loosen this nut and turn the tensioner clockwise to get come slack in the belt. You are going to need a tool to get tension back on the belt. I use the tool pictured (picture of how to tension the belt) but know of people using snap ring pliers to rotate the tensioner.

5. Slip the timing belt off of the cam drive sprocket and off of the water pump.

6. Remove the water pump retaining bolts pictured and remove the water pump. The pump can often be stuck in place. A screwdriver carefully used can help in getting the pump

7. Moisten the o-ring with coolant before installing the new pump. Install the new pump.

8. Install the belt and tension as shown in the picture attached above. Turn the engine over by hand through a full revolution of the cam gear. Re-check the timing marks. The marks will often be off, don't be discouraged by this, it happens to everyone. If the marks are off loosen the belt and slip it the amount of teeth needed to align the marks.

9. Install the items taken off during the removal of the pump, fill the system with coolant and start the engine. The system will pretty much bleed itself out as it reaches operating temperature.

Replacing timing belt on daewoo nubira 2000 model

Instructions Difficulty: Moderate Things You’ll Need:
  • Set of ¼-inch drive sockets ¼-inch drive ratchet Set of ½-inch drive sockets ½-inch drive ratchet Set of 3/8-inch drive sockets 3/8-inch drive ratchet Set of metric wrenches Floor jack Jack stands
Step1 Raise and support the vehicle on jack stands. Remove the intake air temperature wiring, the breather hose and intake air hose. Take off the air cleaner assembly. Step2 Remove the right wheel. Remove the accessory belts. Remove the crankshaft bolt and the crankshaft pulley. Remove the power steering bolts and the timing belt covers. Temporarily install the crankshaft bolt and turn the engine clockwise until the mark on the crankshaft pulley, which is a triangle stamped into the crank sprocket, is aligned with the corresponding triangular mark on the block. Step3 Make sure that the timing marks are aligned on the camshaft sprockets. These are a line on each sprocket that runs through a tooth on each sprocket. These lines should line up in the middle between each sprocket and point toward each other. If they do not line up, turn the crankshaft one more time and they will line up. It takes two turns of the crank to one complete revolution of the cam. Step4 Loosen the water pump bolts; using the 3/8-inch ratchet, turn the water pump clockwise away from the belt and loosely tighten the bolts to keep it there. Remove the timing beltmag-glass_10x10.gif. Make sure the timing marks are aligned and install the new belt starting on the right side from the crank sprocket and working counterclockwise. Keep all the belt tension on the right side away from the tensioner. Step5 Loosen the bolts in the water pump and rotate the water pump counterclockwise to apply tension to the belt. Watch the tensioner, which is above the water pump, and apply tension with the water pump until the pointer on the tensioner lines up with the notch above it. Lightly tighten the water-pump bolts. Step6 Turn the engine two more times and align the timing marks perfectly. Loosen the water-pump bolts and, using the ratchet, apply tension to the belt until the tensioner pointers are aligned. Tighten the water-pump bolts. Step7 Install the timing-belt covers and the bolts in the power-steering pump and tighten. Remove the crankshaft bolt and install the crank pulley and the bolt, then torque the crankshaft pulley bolt to 70 foot pounds of torque. Install all components in reverse order of removal.
