To locate the starter follow positive wire from the battery pole. it is connected to the solenoid of the starter. from there you can locate the bolts and nuts that secures the starter to the engine.

Does anyone have a diagram on how to replace a starter on a 1997 mitsubishi galante es

The easy way is for you to go down to your local auto parts store and get a Haynes repair manual for your 1997 Mitsubishi Galant. In it are all the instructions you need and alot more!

How do i replace starter on a 1997 galant

Before you start, be sure to disconnect the battery. The starter is located between the firewall and the engine, underneath fuel injection assembly. Stick your hand in there and you should be able to feel how the starter is positioned. There are 2 or 3 bolts holding the starter and they're easy to remove. You need to disconnect the wire on the starter coil (the coil is located on top of the starter itself).

Now the fun part: removing the the starter itself. The way I did it is by wriggling it out the open space on the left side of the engine, hence the tight fit. Move any cables or wires that may get in the way for more room. (Important advice: Remember, patience is a virtue!)And there ya go! To install/re-install the starter just do the reverse. It's a lot easier to put it back in than removing it.

You have short circuit between battery positive terminal and chassis.Follow a cable from battery to an alternator. If O.K. remove alternator and check all diods- 6 pse. Also check cable from battery to a starter motor.
