My 97 jeep grand cherokee makes a chirping sound under front

My 97 jeep grand cherokee Laredo makes a chirping sound under the front sometimes when I first take off. The abs light stays on all the time too.

The noise and the light may or may not be related. The noise may be the wear indicator on the brake pads touching the rotor (they are supposed to do that when brakes are worn) The abs light triggers off a wheel on the axle end. If you have a bad joint on the axle, it could be noisy and causing the wheel to not have the proper clearance to the abs sensor. You really need to take the wheel and brake assembly off and carefully inspect everything. Make sure all abs sensor wires are undamaged...it doesn't have to be at the same wheel that's chirping.

I have the same issue with my Jeep 97 Grand Cherokee. Did you ever find out what the chirping sound is? My noise is comming from the engine.

The ABS light is also on. And the check engine lite comes on once in awhile indicating an error on the Catalytic. I had the Catalytic changed out but the Check Engine will come back indicating the same error in a few months.

A bad u-joint makes a higher frequency sound /vibration than say an unbalanced tire. If you have the v-8, you have all wheel drive and the front driveshaft is always driven. Crawl underneath and wiggle both front and rear driveshafts, if one move significantly more, you've found the culprit. Go ahead and replace all the U-joints at that point.

Check your throtle postition sensor. It monitors what postion the throtle is at and sends that info to the ecm. It will go bad and cause that problem.
