96 taurus no turn signals

Check the fuse first, after that would be the turn signal switch. Sorry, I don't have the diagram for the fuse panel. But that fuse is under the dash.

Andy , If you have one it will be in the under dash fuse box or in the under hood Relay/fuse center box.

Denise,the relays are under the hood.They're in an electrical box of their own. The car owner's manual will tell you which one it is.However,I've found the problem is usually a fuse that's under the dash.

check all the earth's to the turn light's to make shore they are clean and well earthed.also check that the flasher unit is not in need of replacing.

If the 15 amp fuse #20 in under the hood is good, suspect the headlight switch is bad.

Take the turn signal lever and jiggle it, a lot. If they start working, the switch is bad. You can also turn on the hazards and take hold of the button and push it left , right , forward and back and see if they start working. If so, replace the turn signal/ hazard switch.

The Electronic Flasher is located behind LH side of the instrument panel, above fuse panel.
you have to get on your back in front of the drivers seat ,,,with a flash light and look under the dash ,,, on the left side of the steering column tucked under the dash is a black square relay looking thing ,,this is your turn signal flasher ,,

Check the multi function switch (turn signal/hazard) . Dirt gets in the contacts and causes your concern.Replace the multi function switch.

Look under the Hood in the Fuse Relay Box and see if there is not a Relay for the Flashers. If it is here, Replace it and the Common Fuse for the Flashers that is Supposed to be in the Fuse Panel under the Dash on the Inside. Let me know.
