No fixes available
you may take it to a diesel pump specialist shop for cheap ideas as it may be a simple shaft seal or re-tensioning of bolts for the cap
If you are looking at "any old vehicle " as a fixed trade in value, then leaking diesel would not be a problem, it is going to scrapped after you sign the deal

2002 LDV Convoy. It has a leak in the steering box, and I have to keep topping up power steering reservoir. Is there anything I can add to stop this leak as U.K. MOT Test is due.

Question edited for clarity and because you are in the UK. This is a North American website but I am British living in Canada.

Yes there are hydraulic leak sealers for power steering. What they do is make the old brittle seals more flexible so they seal again. After a week or so, clean off the leak area with Gunk Spray and hose it off. If it is from the hoses, just replace them as it is a cheap fix.

You can fix your power steering fluid leak by using BlueDevil's guaranteed power steering repair. BlueDevil Power Steering Stop Leak permanently seals leaks in power steering, differentials, and worn rack and pinion systems.

Oil Leak and Water Pump Leak

you can check the water pump leak yourself as there is a small drain hole in the lower part of the bearing housing that lets the water leak out if the seal is failed
you will see a stain at this point running down the front of the motor
as for the oil leak you will see moist dust on the motor or oil spots on the floor where you park the car
best advice is to look for yourself, keep an eye on the reservoir for the radiator or check the water level in the radiator at the cap
if you have to add water then replace the water pump
check the oil on the dipstick regularly and if you have to add less that 1 pint every 5000 miles then the leak is of small worry
Find yourself an accredited service shop that is familiar with your vehicle as many mechanical shops to don't have the training necessary to be accredited

My 1998 deville is now leaking water it got up to 260 so i turned it off n put coolant in it once it had cooled off i went 10 miles in it didnt overheat but it got to 245 n than when i got home my mom told...

this car has a metal coolant line that runs between the engine and the firewall it starts out with a small pin whole leak and then gets bigger this hose is a pain to switch out. i ended up trading my deville in for another car. it might also be the water pump the water pump has a small *** whole that leaks water when the seal goes bad the water pump is also a pain to switch out it requires a special wrench to remove it. the water pump is located behind the drivers side head light next to the dog bone looking motor mount. hope this helps.

Put me Toyota emina in for a mot .it failed on nearside rear suspension ball joint offside rear suspension ball joint im trying to buy them but cant find them is it because its called some thing...

hi.
it could be listed as a tie-rod end, or tie-bar end.
it may also be shown as a stabiliser bar.

you may find you have to buy the complete rod as some of the ends were not removable.
it may be worth asking the mot tester is he knows what they are called

Diesel 1989 F-250 set too long and will roll over

You may have to bleed the fuel system. There may be a very small air leak in the fuel supply line and after a long time idle, the fuel seeps bac into the tank, leaving an air lock in the pipe. When you go to start, this air makes its way into your injection pump & needs to be bled out before the engine will start. Begin from your fuel filter bleed valve, next the injection pump using the primer pump to transfer the fuel. Next loosen off the injector pipes and crank the engine over until fuel sprays form all the joints. Tighten injector pipes and start. It may run a bit rough for to begin with, but will soon even out. If it doesn't start, repeat bleeding of injectors.

Oil leak near oil sump

its hard to solve this one with out being present and seeing it for myself but coming from the motor trade if you have any queries or problems with your vehicle after its bin to a place of repair it is there duty to follow up or ease your worries. Take it back to the place you got it and ask if they can take a lok and show you personally where the leak is coming from or what the small leak could be. if nothing its good customer service. hope this helps
