2002 Chrysler Sebring Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 22, 2009

I have a 2002 Sebring with manual transmission. The dealer is giving me a bit of a run around and changing their story. The problem is electrical and it is either the TCM or ECM and the dealer has switched back and forth and it has become obvious they don't know which. The car will not start. Voltage will not be sent to the starter via the clutch switch. They ''fixed'' it once and the car started and ran fine for about a day and then electrical to the engine just ceased as if someone turned a switch off. All other electrical works but the car will not start.... is there a way to know whither it is the TCM or ECM so I don't get stuck replacing both?

2002 sebring 2.7L 6cyl engine gone...

the transmission bellhousings are different. other than that i suppose u could change them but you would have to change the entire fuel and electrical systems, including the steering column and such. if your 2.7 is bad, get an engine kit and fix it yourself, its not that cheap for parts though, probly run you about as much as a used engine but then you know its good to go

2005 chrysler sebring loses power driving up hill & RPM is up high, Ive changed, spark plugs & air filter. dont know what to do.

Not sure I am following your story.
Are you saying the transmission is slipping and therefore the RPM is high even tho the road speed is not ?
Or is the transmission not upshifting to the next gear at a normal road speed ?
Is the check engine light on ?

Where is the PCM located on a 2002 chrysler sebring?

The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is the aluminum box with fins that is behind the left headlight and toward the engine a bit. It's about 12" long 6" high and 2" thick and runs lenghwise from front to back. The box right behind the headlight that is about 6x6x2 and runs side to side, is the TCM ( Transmission control Module).

I have a 2002 Chrysler Sebring 6 cyl that is starting slow

If you go to a car parts dealer just tell them what make and model your car is and they will give you your choice of batteries that is best for your vehicle.
