You mean wiper arm ? Probably broken wiper arm linkage bushing you can't see , under the cowling . Can you move the passenger wiper arm up an down without much effort ? An not the drivers side ? To see it or get at it you would need to pull wiper arms off an take cowling off to get at it . is there cover on the fuse boxes ? either drivers side dash (part of dash facing your side window)or drivers side kick panel (by left foot) or under the hood on the drivers side.
there is usually a diagram of
fuse locatons on the covers. will say "wipr". or something similar.

Maybe the nut that hold the wiper to the linkage is either loose or stripped? The linkage itself is bad?

I think your wiper motor is fine because the passenger side works and uses the same motor to move the wipers.

arm/linkage came loose.. its at the base of the windshield..

there is 2 wiper motors . 1 for the drivres side and the other for the passenger. sounds like a bad passenger side motor

First remove the complete passenger side wiper check and make sure splines on wiper are not stripped. If this is not the problem It could be a linkage bar from the wiper motor to the wiper off or disconected. Since both wipers share the same motor if one works the other should. Check this by removing both wipers and then "Cawl" (little black piece between the hood and windshield underneath the wipers) Underneath the cawl you should be able to see the windshield wiper motor, and linkage bar to both of the wipers. See if the bar is disconected from the passenger side. If it is than reconnect it. These are the only two possible scenarios.

Likely broke the nylon bushing cap on the left side wiper transmission assembly. Best as I can tell, the cap is not replaceable so replacement of the assembly is required. These are available new AC Delco p/n 19120840 about $75, or on ebay used for about $35. ACDelco 19120840 Windshield Washer Transmission Kit. Goold luck, mine's broke too!

I assume that the drivers side is working perfectly and only the passanger side has a shorteded erattic sweep . It will be either a loose locking nut on the wiper arm (on spindle) or unusually a faulty crank arm (weld) on the underside of the wiper spindle . Good luck

the wiper arm mount is keyed(*tab to slot style) and it may have broken. Remove the wiper arm and look for the grooves.. no groves then it has been stripped and broken. Some also have a nut on top of the mounting point as a retainer. Just basically check where the wiper is attached to the control assembly.
