This is a 95 geo prizm lsi 1.8 with corolla engine. engine jerks or studders when speeding up or at steady speeds around 2500 to 3000 all this happens when the engine is hot or cold. note....i replace eveything i can think of, timing belt, plugs, rotor, wires, i am thinking of replacing the coil although it looks like it has been replaced already because when i bought it the screws looked kind of like someone used tools on it.

i want to make a correction that the car jerks when it is hot or cold. i replaced the ground cables and cleaned all contacts. i replaced the coil but still jerking. im really close to replacing the fuel pump but it is $140 dollars. i really want to make sure it is the pump before i spend the money. someone said that it could have a bad main bearing, which means i would have to remove the head to check it. any suggestions welcomed.

ok, looks like the timing was way off. i bought a timing light and set to specs under the hood. but whats so funny is that i set the timing to the notches on the cam gears like the geo book says and it is way off, which causes the jerking. i guess forget the marks....

CHECK FUEL PRESSURE AND FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR.YOUR FUEL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 38 - 44 PSI.IF FUEL SYSTEM GOOD.YOU COULD HAVE BAD OR STOPPED UP FUEL INJECTORS.TRY CLEANING FUEL INJECTORS FILL GAS TANK UP.PUT A BOTTLE OF INJECTION CLEANER IN FUEL TANK.DRIVE CAR AROUND THE BLOCK.OR DRIVE A FEW MILES SO THE INJECTOR CLEANER CAN FLUSH OUT THE INJECTORS.IF THIS DONT WORK.SCAN IT FAULTY INJECTOR FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER AND IDLE SPEED CONTROL.

I Have a 1993 GEO Prizm that the O/D light is flashing and it starts off I 2nd or 3rd gear.. the codes that was pulled are 26 and 36.. how do I fix this problem?

1.6L or 1.8L? engine.there are 3 engines,
1.6L with one injector and one with 4 and the 1.8L with 4.
and the ecu is different on each.

tell which terminals were jumped. and which lamp flashed?
Corolla - jump DLC terminals TE1 and E1 with a short lead 1

which transaxle.?
A131, A240i, a241h, or A245e, (the e trans is tcm shifted)
The 7AFE engine has the TCM and ECU in same box.
the 1.6L single injector engine runs a pure hydraulic trans.(no TCM)
TCM's engine/trans setups.
the 4speed, has 3 ranges switches, and 3 solenoids. and speed sensors., the MPI engine ecu shifts the transmission the TBI engine does not. MPI has 4 injectors, this your car?

if the OD flashes driving, this means TCM sees errors.
can be bad sensor inputs to the TCM
or bad shifter switch, (really they are sensors too, status switches)
and the TCM can see bad speed sensors.
the TCM can also flash if the solenoids are dead. or transmission slips. (nut shell answers)
IF it skips gears, the TCM may be in limphome, they do that on errors. to protect the transmission for damage.

first, off , prizm is just a toy corolla and those are really corolla

best page on car., but i cant find your codes? are you sure you counted correclty? 26 is too rich running. (fuel ratio) 36 I can not find anywhere, (stumped me)

post vin on car and we can look up what's under the hood.
put xxxx and end of VIN. for privacy.

What is the correct tire size for 92 geo prizm

It depends if your gsi or lsi
gsi says, p185/60R14
lsi is a 13 inch tire, one said, P155/80R13
Maybe you need to check your suspension?
There might be a placard on driver door post that has tire size?
I just looked at tirerack, it said 175/70-13

1994 Geo Prizm LSI running one day won't crank next day

turns over and crank are the same thing,
so you are saying it does crank over but no start, right?
you need to determine if you have at least 50psi of fuel pressure in fuel rail at reed valve.

2000 Chevy Prizm Lsi 4-speed auto trans. problems

That does sound like a linkage adjustment problem.

If that does not work, I'd try a fluid change and filter. But your diagnostics with pulling on the gear shifter is a pretty good indication of a linkage problem.

Yes a harmanic balancer from tha corolla is the same thing. I had to do the same thing with my 95 geo. It works out to be a lot cheaper buying for a toyota than a geo.

Heater (and a/c) blower motor runs only at the two highest speeds

I had the same exact symptom (02 Prizm LSI)..Order yourself a Blower Motor Resistor (I clicked on it---scroll up on this same screen that you are reading--- AC Delco part, $25.79). When the part arrives, look at it, and then look behind and to the left of your glove box door, YOU WILL SEE IT RIGHT AWAY. 2 screws, takes about 10 minutes to change. Its been nice to get all 4 speeds back! Good luck.
