There is a plate on your alternator that will tell its rating. Also if the pulley is the same on both, it never hurts to put the higher rated one in to be certain.

If the tensioner pulley is “shredding belts”. You might want to look into why. Most of the time belt length has nothing to do with the tensioner shredding the belt.
There are two,one is 105 amp,the other is 120 amp,and either one will fit,the 130 amp is the one to use,it is worth the extra amps,the alternator does not have to work as hard to keep up.
You should have a 100 amp or the optional 105 amp. 105 amp was more common with A/C as an option for the cavalier and the 100 was without. Regardless there the same alternator, 105 amp alternator just has it's rectifier set higher then the other so your better off with the 105 if you can get one.
The best way to is call a gmc dealer and give them the last 8 digits of your vin they will tell you. Sometimes you can use the 8th digit of your vin at a parts store (Auto Zone). Hope this helps
charging voltage to battery should be;
13.6 to 14.2 - the lower the voltage the higher the charging amps i.e:
13,6 = 55 amps
14.2 1209 amps
