Well, there are several "brains" in your car, but most people are referring to the ECU (engine control unit) when they refer to the brain. The ECU interfaces with all of the engine management sensors and adjusts fuel, timing and other performance-related issues real-time as you drive. It uses algorithms written into its programming to make your engine run as efficiently as possible. It also detects problems with engine sensors and equipment and alerts you via the check engine light and the OBD hook-up.

Hope this is an answer to your question,
matt

A 2002 Lincoln Navigator where is the brain box located at?

If you think the ECM is called a 'brain box', your best bet it to take it to an auto-electrician. You are driving one of the most electronically controlled vehicles on the road. It contains dozens of modules controlling functions using hundreds of sensors all communication on a serial bus computer network.

If you are thinking of replacing the 'brain box', it has to be programmed with the VIN Number and the mileage using a bi-directional scan tool computer. Then establish connection with all the other modules. This is not a home mechanic job to fix the problem, which you haven't shared with us.

Where is door switch located on a Lincoln MKZ 2008?

I don't know the answer to your question but there are three usual locations - the A pillar, the B pillar or buried inside the door catch.

Considering the age of the car it is likely to be fully computerised and likely there is a single switch telling the brain the door is closed and the brain then controls all the functions. It is a common practice these days for a single black box to control all the timing functions including the courtesy light function.

I suggest you research your car further, perhaps by looking at a wiring diagram.
