83 saab 900,car starts right up but dies like you turn off the switch? new fuel pump,filter

There's two fuel pumps, primary in the gas tank and a secondary pump under the car. Try using a jumper wire where the fuel pump relay plugs into to see if the relay is bad. Clean and adjust the airflow plate. Check for rust at the fuel distributor. And check for leaks in the plastic fuel lines from the fuel distributor to the injectors (wrap some paper towels around them and turn the key on to prime the system).
