Is the check engine light on...if it is...that's a good place to start have it check for trouble codes...you can also try checking for a vacuum leak

Ignition problem, clogged fuel injectors, weak fuel pump. Also try to run car with fuel tank cap open to see if that makes any difference

SOURCE: fuel filter

first, you have to drain the oil from the drain plug located at the bottom of the oil pan,

after all of the oil have been drain, tighten back the drain plug bolt.

then remove the old oil filter by using a filter wrench, you would need this wrench because it is very hard to remove by plain hands. the oil filter is located at the bottom of the engine or sometimes at its side.

after removing the old one, apply a thin coat of new oil to the rubber o-rings of the new oil filter before inserting just to make a good seal as you tighten it.

now open the oil filler cap at the top of the engine and pour the exact amount of new oil that was specified in your book. and also the correct type of oil that it uses.

then start the engine for 5 mins, turn t off and check the amount of oil at the dip stick. add if necessary..

i hope i was able to fix ur problem...

tnx 4 using fixya

SOURCE: 2001 kia rio fuel pump does not work

Are you positive its the fuel pump? Have you tried running the pump with the return line off to see if it pumps fuel? They don't always have to make a noise.

SOURCE: i have a 2001 kia rio and my check engine light

P0705....Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input) . probably means that that a plug may have come off or a wire got cut thus the circuit to the Park , Reverse, nuetral , Drive or Low had a "malfuntion". Ot it couldbe the sensor itself on the tranny.

SOURCE: Kia Rio overheating although everything seems ok

Possible early signs of a water pump problem. A failing waterpump will circulate coolent when the RPMS are high but when you slow down, so does the waterpump, thereby causing overheating.

My 2001 Kia Rio idles rough and won't go over 2000 rpms. I can only get to about 20 km/h. I got the fuel filter and spark plugs replaced. Changed the mass air flow and the throttle position sensor. Still...

It may me the Transmission Modulator Value.
a small diaphram value that measures pressure and tells the transmission when to change gears. If the diaphram is leaking it never can measure the right pressure. its on the transmission housing. Just disconnect and screw it out.

Engine misfire from 1 & 4 changed spark

Did you use the right plugs?
Pull them all out, inspec, them for phisical damage.
Son put theplug for the 2.4 instead of the plugs for the 2.2 in his cavalier and he only clipped one with a piston (Missfire)
Do you have the fireing order correct?

At times car can not run over 53mph.

u need a special test gauge, it hooks to a test port on the supply pipe to the engine fuel injectors's, looks like a metal tire valve, u may be able to borrow this fuel pressure test guage from Kragen or Autozone, call them and check.
