Just check the coolant every day till you have a chance to get it fix...the bearing on the pump is worn out that's why is leaking and the pump needs to be replaced...don't take to long to fix it...if you don't want it to start overheating.

It's already serious. The water pump shaft can break and leave you stranded. Get it replaced asap.

SOURCE: squealing noise coming from the belts while engine is running

take off your serp-belt and spin your water pump, alternator, idler pully and see what squeaks or feels rough. your water pump bearings may be bad. the only thing you can do is change it. dont forget to change your thermostat and antifreeze. FYI your antifreeze is made with lubricants in it for your water pump bearings.

SOURCE: Leaking Coolant - Water Pump Replacement

Depends on your experience, confidence, what tools you have and how much risk you can tolerate if you get into the job and can't finish it or do it incorrectly. A water pump poorly done could result in a damaged engine. It's a fair ways complicated for a novice but within the range of someone who's done brakes or replaced belts, hoses alternators etc. To see what you have to do, find a repair book for your car at the library. Otherwise it will cost somewhere around $200 to $400 depending how complicated the repair.

SOURCE: 1998 chevy monte carlo leaking coolant

I have a similar problem with my 97 monte carlo, 3.1 liter engine. I am losing a full reservoir worth of water in 3-4 days. Two different mechanic told me it is probably the water pump is going/gone bad, causing it leak out of the peep hole. Replacing the water pump, should fix the problem.

SOURCE: My 03 Trailblazer was making a loud squealing

Have you tried to checking the tensioner and the idler pulley? The idler is a fixed pulley on the driver side of the alternator. Most of the time this gets rusted during sudden change in the weather or its just the bearing inside it just worned off.

Replace 2000 Dodge Caravan 3.0L V6 Coolant Pipe & Gaskets that runs from the water pump to near the heater core

Thats all thats there, water pump, inlet tube,Take the cover off & pressure check the system. PS. a bad water pump doesn't have to be noisy to be faulty. the gasket, connections & water seals go bad too. Does the timing belt squeal? take off that cover & check it out. good luck

I have xr8 au tickford I have water leaking under manifold and it's making a squeling from pulley area n running rough

1. If running rough the computer will be generating fault codes to assist with diagnosis. You need to have the car scanned to pull up the fault codes being generated because there will be one or 2 as you likely have a misfire condition.

2. IF the coolant leak is not from a failing flexible coolant hose connection or a break in a hose, it is probably coming from a failed gasket in the water pump on the front section of the engine.

3. The squealing from the pulley you mentioned is more likely belt squeal. Once the serpentine belts get damp from leaking coolant they will begin to squeal. Identify and fix the leak first and you will find when the belt dries up it will stop making noise.

I am leaking coolant in the front not at the radiator but close too it. Is it the hose or the water pump?

Put a piece of cardboard under the car. Then look down at the cardboard from above the the area. You can see where the drops are in relation to the hose or water pump or other spot.
I do that for locating oil leaks.
Hope this helps.

How do I know if I need a new water pump?

there is little weep hole under your water pump and coolant will leak out of it once it needs to be replaced. Your water pump will sometimes make an awful high pitched squeal without leaking which in that case would also require replacing. I'd also suggest checking heater hoses because they can also leak.

Loud pulley squeal on a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country. I recently changed the altenator and belt tenseinor, the idler pulley is off now & bearing is fine, the squealing gets louder when turning wheels, my...

Sounds like the power steering pump. Usually water pump will leak from its weep hole if its going out. Look for coolant leakage around bottom of water pump.

2005 grand cherokee squealing and loss of coolant

Check belt tension, squeeling is most likely due to belt slippage. Have you noticed any fluid leaking from under your Jeep? Coolant level drop could be from bad water pump, when the pump needs replacing, water flows out of a "weep hole". It could be leaking onto your belt also, causing it to squeel

Leaking coolant from where?

Thats the water pump. There is a testing gauge that can be hooked up at a Radiator shop to find the leak. If it would not be leaking I would say to check the fan clutch which the blade mounts to for this noise. But with a leak and a sound it can very well be the water pump.

Car is leaking coolant and making a noise like when the belts need replaced

check if the leak is coming from the water pump, sounds like it is worn out and leaking from its bearings and partially seized too since is is making presumably a squealing sound.
