There is a float in the gas tank that sends a signal to the gauge. It is either stuck in the up position or no longer is sending the proper signal. Probably needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: Fuel guage stays on full

the problem is the fuel gauge sending unit is an open circuit, this is caused by the sender and it will need to be replaced, use caution when removing the gas tank, also try to have the tank at less than 1/4 full, above all be careful, there is a signifigant fire/explosion hazard when doing this job.

SOURCE: fuel guage stays on full

There is a possibility that the float on your fuel pump may be sticking. that could cause your gauge to stick way up top or way down low.

SOURCE: 1984 toyota pickup, 2wd, standard

On this truck there are two things that make the fuel pump run..
1. turn the key to the start position.
2. The airflow meter shows that there is airflow going to the engine.

My guess is that when you turn the key to start the pump runs and the truck starts.. when you release the key the airflow meter (Mass airflow sensor) is not telling the system that the truck is in fact running and the fuel pump shuts off. I would look for a new MAS in a junkyard and see if thats your problem. You can test this by supplying power to the fuel pump manually. (jump the relay or something similar) and see if it runs.

SOURCE: 1984 toyota pickup 22re fuel injection is not getting fuel to the cylinders

Most likely a fuel pump problem, locate the diagnostic check connector under the hood and turn the key on then put a jumper wire between the terminals FP and B+ if it start then the fuel pump is ok and the problem may be the EFI relay or efi fuse

Is there a common problem with the wiring/parts of the horn circuit on 1982 Toyota Cresida ?

horns get water inside the diaphragm and rust solid and a car of that vintage ,that would be a good assumption
use a multimeter and place it in volt mode and read if there is power to the horn terminal
if there is replace the horns.

Fuel guage

the guage gets a earth signal from the sender ,, depending on the amount the guage rises accordingly ,, if the wire is touching earth any where the guage will go up to full,,,, disconnect the fuel sender and see does the guage drop,, it should if there is no short in the wiring ,,,,if it does drop you then have to recheck the sender ,,, if the guage stays full you have to check wiring for a short ,,,,, if you are able you could strip out the guage and disconnect the plug at the rear of it to make sure that the guage itself is not faulty,,,,

Cylinder head torque 1n diesel engine

Hi!

The Toyota Starlet is a fuel efficient compact car that replaced Toyota's Publica model in 1973 and was manufactured through the 1999 model year. The Starlet was sold new in the United States for only four years, from 1981 through the 1984 model year. Originally a rear-wheel drive car, the Starlet transitioned to front-wheel drive in 1984.

The 1981 to 1984 versions of the Starlet that were sold in the U.S. were powered by a 1.3 liter OHV engine with four cylinders and electronic fuel injection. The engine has a 2.95-inch bore and 2.87-inch stroke and produces 58 horsepower at 4,200 rpm. The 1981 and 1982 versions of the engine produced 67 ft-lbs of torque, and the 1983 and 1984 versions produced 74 ft-lbs of torque. The compression ratio is 9.5:1.
Hope that helps!!

My 1984 toyota corolla ran out of gas now it wont idle

Quick explanation of your fuel system:

An automotive fuel system consists of everything between the fuel tank and the carburetor or fuel injection unit. This includes the tank itself, all the lines, one or more fuel filters, a fuel pump (mechanical, electric, or both), and the carburetor or fuel injection unit.
With the exception of the carburetor or fuel injection unit, the fuel system is quite simple in operation. Fuel is drawn or pumped from the tank through the fuel line by the fuel pump, which forces it through the fuel filter, and from there to the carburetor/injection unit where it is distributed to the cylinders.

So with that info...try first to clean your spark plugs.
Next, replace your fuel filter.
After that, depending on a carburetor/fuel injection, try an additive that cleans the injectors. For the carburetor, try a half of can of what is called "Seafoam". It comes in a metal can available everywhere, including Walmart. It is worth the $6-8 and also will "dry" out your fuel from water. Very good product.

After that, get back to us and let us know how your Toyota is running.
