SOURCE: '97 Ford Escort leaking auto transmission fluid.

The front seal could be replaced, and not have a problem. If you have a shop other than a transmission shop do the repairs, make sure the torque converter hub is inspected to make certain its not scratched/scorn. If the trans shifts properly and the fluid is not burned or smells burned, this would be an easy repair. If the trans fluid smells burned, and hasn't been serviced regularly, the rebuild would be the way to go. Also, ask what the warranty for any and all repair are on your vehicle. Normal warranty is 1yr, 12.000 miles in the automotive business.

SOURCE: transmission front seal leaking what it cost to

if it is the front seal, you did not indicate whether manual or automatic, but the seal is generally 15-20 bucks, its the labour time that costs the most, my suggestion is if its manual, possibly think of doing the clutch at the same time, or if its automatic, having a tourque converter service as well

You'll need to remove the transmission, the remove the torque coverter from the transmission, the seal is mounted in the transmission where the torque converter goes in. The seal is $10-$20. I a garage may charge between 2 and 4 hours of labor.

You're going to have to shop around. Labor rates & parts prices vary from shop to shop and is dependent on who they choice to use for a parts supplier.

Leaking transmission

There are 3 seals on the transmission that can leak. One is the front seal on the input shaft. Another is on the output shaft. The third one is on the side where the shift lever connects to the linkage. Another source of a leak can be the cooler lines that go from the transmission up to the radiator. Once you determine the source of the leak you can then find out the cost of repairs.

What is the code p1870 on my 2000 isuzu rodeo and approximately how much for repairs

code p 1870 refers to AT---component slipping===causes mechanical fault
this could be a band or clutch problem and could possibly be a matter of adjustment , fluid change or filter clean
I would take it to an accredited auto transmission specialist( only-no local mechanic ), have them do a proper diagnosis and quote and ask will a fluid change and adjustment when the pan is off fix the problem
if could be a band piston seal failure or low oil pressure from a failing pressure regulator
cannot suggest repair costs until you know exactly is wrong and that will be determined when the pan is off and the internals can be inspected

I have a 1992 Maxima SE with 193,000 miles. The car runs great and is very reliable. However, I have a consistent leak, which I am informed is where the engine connects to the transmission. Can anyone...

Rear main seals and front transmission seals will run $400.00 to $500.00. The engine or transmission has to come out of the car.If you have this done you should also have the pan gasket replaced. about $30.00 extra. If it's the transmission seals have both the rear main and pan gasket replaced. And vise versa.

I have a 2000 beetle turbo and just notices it is leaking oil from around the plug which is tight and seeping transmission fluid. Is this going to be a costly fix?

OIL LEAK AROUND THE SPARKS PLUGS COULD BE LEAKING VALVE COVER GASKETS ALLOWING OIL TO SEEP BY GASKET FLOW DOWN AROUND SPARK PLUGS.TRANSMISSION LEAK IS NOT VERY EXPENSIVE LONG AS TORQUE CONVERTER SHAFT SEAL NOT LEAKING WHICH TRANSMISSION HAS TO DROPPED OUT TO REPLACE SHAFT SEAL.IF TRANSMISSION LEAK AROUND FRONT AXLE SEAL IT MAY COST A LITTLE.BUT PAN GASKET LEAK OR OIL COOLER LINES WONT COST TOO MUCH NOT HARD TO GET TO REPAIR.PHONE AROUND GET PRICE CHECKS.

more then likely the torque converter/front pump seal is laking and is the most common leak in this trans, the cost to repair is about $500 as the transmission must come out.

Cost to repair leaking rear main seal

This can be accessed by removing transmission and flywheel. Just call a dealer or repair shop for a quote. Should be about 5 to 6 hours labor and 100.00 parts.

1988 Dodge Dakota Ram 4x4 tranny pump is bad how do we go about repairing it or how much would it cost us to have it repaired. We already paid a guy 600.00 to put a tranny front seal in and found out

If you had a tranny seal problem, you would have an external leak. If you have a pump problem you will not any forward or reverse. If the pump is still a problem you will have to remove the transmission to replace the pump. I suggest you talk to a transmission shop and get an estimate for repairs.

Rear Main Seal Leak

To replace the seal, the mechanic will have to either lift the engine or lower the transmission. You will get much better pricing going to a transmission shop (e.g. AAMCO) and getting a quote from them to replace the seal.
