The backup fuse is the external fuse that you supply. ... Choose one to suit - perhaps to match fuse or circuit breakers in the rest of you control panel.

SOURCE: BFC BATT FUSE 10 AMP

Maybe shouldn't answer and wait for someone to tell us both what BFC means, but it would not be for the BCM. Sounds like what some cars call the IOD fuse-ignition off draw-the small battery draw that is used for the computer memory, radio pre-sets, and the clock, theft alert system. Believe it would be about that same draw as yours, not enough to drain a battery. Still have your owner's manual? It should have a listing of the fuses.

Testimonial: "No it is not for the pcm, i got my answer from the wiring diagram that i found. Its a positive voltage to the BCM, so thats mean all the think that keep in power when the ignition is off. Clock, int, light, trunk ect. And i read a comment about my drain on justanswer.com and it say that u need to wait 15 to 30 min before the car go to sleep mode. So i waited like 15 min and my 0.06 AMP drain shutted down to 0.02. So thats mean its a nowmal draw and that mean to that all of you guys have to be careful on how to read a parasit draw battery."

SOURCE: xg300 parasitic draw, located the 2 fuses that have the draw on them, how do i fix it

parasitic draw should remain at 50 milli amps or less or .05 amps this needs to be checked with an amp meter with the battery terminal disconnected and the power drain going through the amp meter keep in mind the circuits your testing may take up to an hour or two to fully go to sleep there is no easy way to test these multi circuits it takes years experience to troubleshoot these

My battery keeps going flat and I have noticed that one of my ECI/ECD fuse is missing could this be a potential cause?

A battery that keeps going dead can be caused by a number of things. The life expectancy of a battery is 5yrs. Anything over this in age can cause a problem. If the charging system is not performing properly, it can lead to battery depletion issues. The most likely cause is a parasitic draw which constantly pulls a small amount of amperage from the battery while the ignition is off. You will need to have a parasitic draw test performed to isolate the source of any draw

Hooking between the neg. post an neg. cable an pulling fuse's is not a good way to do a parasitic draw test on your vehicle . Pulling fuse's wakes up module's an you will see a draw . You need to do it non-intrusively . Your vehicle has a bunch of control modules an pulling fuse's will wake them up. Try this way .

The alternator went out on my 1991 Z/28 Camaro 5.7L and I got the alternator replaced along with a new battery. The car will not stay charged after a few day sitting in my drive way because of this problem

You need to perform a parasitic amp draw test. Make sure your doors are closed and all interior lights, etc are turned off. Using a multimeter first disconnect the negative terminal and place one probe on negative battery terminal and one on the negative terminal you removed. This will tell you if there is something pulling power off the battery while the car is sitting. To find the source of any amp draws on your system(aka parasites) pull one fuse at a time and see how much the draw changes. Look at aftermarket radios and alarms they almost always have a small amount of current draw. This should help you narrow down the component causing your issue. Once you have identified the source post the information so we can help you further.
