The purge celluloid is good and there was a code reading of 442 indicating that the smaog emissions were making the check engine light come on.

ok code 0300 is a random multiple cylinder misfire. probably ignition related is my guess. i would check the coil pack and ignition module and go from there.

do you have a rattle when going over bumps in road if so get your cat checked out.
SOURCE: My 2003 Kia Spectra has Diagnostic codes: P1404 & P0444.?.?
the purge valve i believe is located near your gas tank unless theyve moved it i should look like a little canister cyclinder shaped. both codes could be set off by the same problem. try replacing the valve.
SOURCE: 2003 MITSUBISHI GALANT HOW TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULB
First you disconnect the 3 prong electric plug. To disconnect squeeze the side tabs together (hard) and pull away from the bulb, then you can pull off the protective rubber covering, (its a little snug so give it a tug from the 2 tabs on the top and bottom).
Next unscrew the little Phillips head screw to loosen the bracket that clips in the bulb (take note of how the clip is installed before you remove it, it holds the bulb securely in place).
Just loosen the screw as you do not need to remove it all the way. Pull out the old bulb and replace it with the new one.
The bulb has 3 spacing tabs on it so it can only go in one way. Make note of this when you remove it so you may replace it the same way. follow the steps in reverse and your done.
Note: The little wire clip that holds the bulb in can be a pain. Make sure you get a really good look at it, since it pops out as soon as you loosen the screw. If you get lost, you can always look at the other headlight. Oh, and don't do this in the dark.
SOURCE: GM Code 442
Do you mean code P0442? I would assume that's what you mean since you said it relates to the Evap System
This code indicates that there is a fuel vapor leak in the system. This means that a very small leak has been detected. The leak can be from a hole as small as 1mm
This code point towards any of the following:
a loose gas cap or a non factory spec gas cap
a small leak or hole in the fuel vapor hose/tube
faulty vent o-ring seal
The most common fixes is to re install the gas cap, clear the codes, and see if the code returns. Or replace the gas cap and clear the codes and see if it returns. Finally inspect the hoses/tubes for cuts/holes
This code in no way points to a canister requiring to be replaced.
