Turn it off prior to incline, then back on after completion.

SOURCE: Mass Airflow Sensor 2005 Chevy Malibu. 2.2 ltr.4 cyl.

The MAF is in the flex hose that delivers air to the engine, it has a 5 or 6 wire connector going to it.

SOURCE: MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR REPLACEMENT & DIAGRAMS

Very easy for the Mass Air Flow Sensor....it is in the duct between the throttle body and the air filter box. Just unclamp the tube and remove the old and replace with the new.

SOURCE: mass air meter not reading vane postion

hey rob_andersen,

yes their is a way to replace the mass air flow. Get a can of brake clean or throttle cleaner, throttle cleaner is going to work best. remove the until and spray it down with throttle clean, let it dry for about 15 min. and reinstall it.

Now a little warning for you, IF their is no visual damage to the mass air flow then you can do this successfully. Now the reason why I always replace them instead of spraying them down is because is MOST cases the mass air flow will start acting up again. Sometimes it takes a weeks, sometimes months, sometimes years its hard to say.

But the worst you have to loose, is it doenst work an your out 5 bucks for the can of fluid.

I have a 1995 Chevy 4x4 1500 with a 350 engine. I am getting horrible gas milage although the engine runs extremely well. The engine light will come on from time to time and when I had it checked it said...

mass air flow is a small sensor on the pipe from the air breather to the throttle body. Make sure your air breather is clean and also check your PCV valve.

What fixes codes p1515

Throttle Body Sensor or your accelerator pedal is the cause of code P1515. Your GMC or Chevy truck gas pedal is controlled by the vehicle's computer. I know what a idiotic feature.. But replace that & clean or replace your mass airflow sensor as well... Problems resolved!!!

99 SOLARA ROUGH IDLE AFTER REPLACING O2 SENSORS...

try cleaning the mass airflow sensor, and change the PCV valve. I would replace the PCV valve first cause that could cause it and its a cheap and easy fix, could be stuck and gunked up or clogged and barely any air is moving into the intake, if you clean the mass airflow sensor be careful not to touch the element and not to drop it handle with care it's expensive and is a fragile part, and use mass airflow spray cleaner only. Try that see if it fix's the problem if not I would check your vacuum lines particularity the ones going in and out of the intake from the pcv valve and the one going from the airbox to the engine, then check if any of the other small lines from your EGR are all connected and not cracked broke or damaged

2001 VW Jetta 1.8T The problem we are having is no acceleration. We have changed anything and everything you can think of. The car runs fine but no power.

Failed mass airflow sensor, failed turbo, and turbo waste gate valve sticking open are all things that will do just that.

There was a recall on the mass air flow sensors on these vehicles but they would not replace them in the past unless they failed.

Accelaration loss of power

I'd have a fuel pressure test done to be sure, it isn't fuel related again. Takes 5 or 10 minutes so cost should be minimal. The other thing that comes to mind is a plugged exhaust. (catalytic converter) Quite possible on a 10yr.old vehicle.

No start

The 1991 MR2 Does not have a Mass Airflow Sensor, lest it be added aftermarket.
So your issue seems like it should be solved by overhauling the engine.
entails cleaning everything out, from the inside to the smallest valve, that will fix it.
Make sure to check all belts (timing, serpentine) for tears or the like, remove the valve cover and check to see if nothing is jammed. If you are not gear savvy, ask a mechanic in your area to come take a look at the engine, there could be something more amiss here than just a faulty valve cover or a stuck valve.
