On the heavy-duty models like this one (and mine) the rotors are indeed pressed on. The whole assembly comes off via four bolts on the inside of the assembly. Look in a Chilton's or Hayne's at your local auto parts store to see it with pictures.

Do not just hammer away as the previous ignoramus suggested. They'll never come off and you'll just end up breaking something.

First just crawl under it and grab your axles and see if you can shake them and get any movement from either of them this will tell you if you have a loose CV joint or not .. thanks Jerry holler if you need more .

Yes the torx screw must be removed and you are right the other two threaded holes you can use two bolts screw them in there after you remove the torx and it will push the rotor off the hub and the best way to remove the torx is with a impact driver it is like a screw driver you change the bits but you hit the end with a hammer which the tool then twists and removes the srew you can find them at any tool store prolly even autozone... and if you dont use bolts to push the hub off just use a brass hammer and pound off the rotor

SOURCE: REPLACING FRONT HUB STUDS FOR A 98 HONDA PRELUDE

To remove that hub you will destroy the bearing. Because you have to remove it with a slide hammer. It is not necessary to remove the hub to change the studs. Remove the caliper, caliper bridge and rotor. Using a hammer simply knock out the stud or studs you want to replace. Put new stud in and using a sleeve that has a bigger diameter than the stud (I use a big nut, like the one on the axle) put big nut over stud and screw lug nut on stud and tighten until head of stud is flush with hub. Re-install rotor, caliper bridge and caliper. Hope this helps.

Are you talking about the front rotors? The hub and rotor are one assembly and do not seperate on that truck. If you need to replace one part, the replacement part will have the hub and rotor together.

  1. Remove the hub body assembly from the front disc brake hub and rotor. If the body is difficult to remove, install two capscrews and pull the body assembly out of the front disc brake hub and rotor.

Installation
  1. NOTE: Do not pack the hublock body assembly or cap with grease. Excessive grease can cause excessive dialing effort and hub failure.

    Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
  1. Tighten three Torx® head capscrews to 4-6 Nm (35-53 lb-in).

I need to remove the front brake rotors from my 94 Isuzu trooper to either turn or replace them. Is this a complex project requiring special tools to remove or re-install due to the auto 4wd hubs? I have...

No, but I would replace the rotors. Turning them usually winds up getting them warped as soon as they heat up and/or you hit a puddle of water..also, you will need a torque wrench and standard automotive tools, Jack and stands and a vice..

1 Place the Transfer shift in the 2H position.
Raise and support the front of the vehicle safely on jackstands.
2 Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
3 Loosen the hub to rotor retainer bolts.
4 Remove the brake caliper mounting bolts and carefully remove the caliper (along with the brake pads) from the rotor. Do not disconnect the brake line. 5 Secure the caliper out of the way with the flexible line still connected.

Once the hub/rotor is removed from the vehicle the wheel bearings may be cleaned and repacked or the bearings and races may be replaced. For more information, please refer to the wheel bearing procedures in General Information & Maintenance of this manual.

6 Remove the hub nut using hub wrench J-29020-A or equivalent.
7 Remove the hub cap assembly retainer bolts.
8 Remove the spindle nut, washers, and other components. Remove the hub/rotor, being careful not to drop the outer wheel bearings. As the hub/rotor is pulled forward, the outer wheel bearings will often fall forward.
9 Once the hub/rotor is removed, remove the retainer bolts securing the rotor and hub together. Inspect the hub and replace if needed.

To install:
1 With the rotor secured in a vise, attach the wheel hub to the rotor using the retainer bolts. Tighten the bolts to 47-58 ft. lbs. (61-75 Nm). Apply 2.12 oz. (60 gm) of grease to the hub before installing.
2 Carefully install the wheel hub/rotor over the spindle.
3 Install the bearings washers and other components. 4 Position the lock washer so the hub cap assembly bolt holes line up properly.
5 Install the spindle washer and nut and secure using hub wrench J-29020-A or equivalent. Preload the bearing to 3.31 lbs. (1.5 kg).
6 Install the inner cam and any shims. Install the hub cap assembly and secure in place with retainer bolts. 7 Tighten grade M8 bolts to 17-22 ft. lbs. (22-29 Nm), tighten grade M10 bolts to 40-47 ft. lbs. (52-61 Nm).
8 Install the brake caliper.
9 Install the tire and wheel assembly.
10 Remove the supports and carefully lower the vehicle.

How to replace 99 gmc 3/4 tom brake rotors

Removal & Installation
  1. Remove 2/3of the brake fluid from the master cylinder.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  4. Remove the front wheel hub extension (dual wheel vehicles only).
    • Insert a drift or large screwdriver through the brake caliper into one of the brake rotor vanes in order to prevent the rotor from turning.
    • Mark the relationship of the front wheel hub extension to the hub
    • Remove the front wheel hub extension bolts
    • Remove the front wheel hub extension from the vehicle. It may be necessary to tap around the perimeter of the hub extension with a rubber mallet to loosen it from the hub
  5. Mark the relationship of the rotor to the hub.
  6. Remove the caliper and mounting bracket as an assembly.
  7. Hang the caliper and the mounting bracket assembly from the suspension using mechanics wire.
  8. Remove the rotor.
  9. If the rotor is difficult to remove due to corrosion in the hub area use the following procedure to remove the rotor (25 series only).
    • Clean all the surface areas and the threaded holes of contamination
    • Generously apply penetrating oil or the equivalent to the hub/rotor area
    • Insert (2) M10 x 1.5 bolts (jack screws) into the threaded holes of the rotor
    • Tighten both bolts evenly to force the rotor from the hub.

To install:
  1. Clean all rust and contaminants from the both side of the rotor and the hub flange.
    NOTE If the rotor was removed using the jack screw method you must ensure that the hub flange is free of nicks or marks caused by this procedure. Remove all raised nicks or marks before installing the rotor.

  2. Install the rotor.
  3. Install the caliper and the mounting bracket as an assembly.
  4. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
  5. Remove the safety stands.
  6. Lower the vehicle.

Hub and Bearing Assembly
ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Do not begin this removal procedure unless the following parts are available:
  • A new front axle wheel hub retainer (3B477) (Step 1).
  • A new inboard halfshaft joint stub shaft circlip.
Once removed, these parts must not be reused during assembly. Their torque holding ability or retention capability is diminished during removal.

Removal
  1. Turn ignition switch to the OFF position and place the steering column in the unlock position.
  1. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Discard the front axle wheel hub retainer. It is a torque prevailing design and cannot be reused. If loosened, the retainer must be removed and a new one installed.
    Remove and discard front axle wheel hub retainer (3B477).
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
  1. NOTE: Make sure steering column is in the unlocked position, and do not use a hammer to separate tie rod end (3A130) from the front wheel knuckle (3K185) . Use extreme care not to damage boot seal.

    Remove cotter pin from tie rod end stud and remove slotted nut. Discard cotter pin and nut.
  1. Using Tie Rod End Remover 211-001 (TOOL-3290-D) or equivalent and Tie Rod End Remover Adapter 211-087 (T81P-3504-W), remove tie rod end from front wheel knuckle.
  1. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Use extreme care not to damage boot seal. Do not use power tools to remove the nut, or bearing and seal damage will result. Loosen the nut first, then remove nut from stud using the hex hold feature.
    For SHO vehicles, remove vinyl cover from upper link stud.
    Remove stabilizer bar link (5K484) from front shock absorber (18124) .
  1. Remove disc brake caliper (2B120) and support with wire to obtain working space. Do not allow disc brake caliper to separate from the front disc brake caliper anchor plate (2B292) to prevent contamination of the disc brake guide pin journals. Do not allow disc brake caliper to hang from front brake hose (2078) . Remove front disc brake rotor (1125) . Remove front disc brake rotor from wheel hub (1104) by pulling it off the lug bolt (1107). If front disc brake rotor is difficult to remove from front wheel knuckle , strike front disc brake rotor sharply between lug bolt with a rubber or plastic hammer.
    If front disc brake rotor will not pull off, apply Rust Penetrant and Inhibitor D7AZ-19A501-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M99C56-A to inboard and outboard rotor/hub mating surfaces. Install 3-Jaw Puller 205-D027 (D80L-1013-A) or equivalent and remove front disc brake rotor by pulling on front disc brake rotor outside diameter and pushing on hub center. If excessive force is required for removal, check front disc brake rotor for lateral runout prior to installation. Refer to Section 06-00.
  1. Remove anti-lock brake sensor mounting bolt and front brake anti-lock sensor (2C204) .
  1. Remove and discard lower ball joint nut. Using Remover Adapter 211-211 (T96P-3010-A1), separate lower ball joint from front suspension lower arm (3078) .
  1. Using Rotunda Spring Compressor 014-00781 or equivalent, compress front coil spring (5310) until lower ball joint clears front suspension lower arm .
  1. Using Front Hub Remover/Replacer 204-069 (T81P-1104-C), Two Stud Adapter 205-237 (T86P-1104-A1), Metric Hub Remover Adapter 204-085 (T83P-1104-BH) and Front Hub Installer 204-067 (T81P-1104-A), press front wheel driveshaft joint (3B414) from wheel hub . Wire front wheel driveshaft joint to body to maintain a level position.

  1. Remove and discard three hub and bearing retainer bolts from front wheel knuckle .
  1. NOTE: Wheel hub is not pressed into front wheel knuckle . Do not use slide hammer to remove a stuck wheel hub . Do not strike back of inner bearing race. Use of these methods will damage bearing internal parts.

    NOTE: If bearing carrier is corroded to front wheel knuckle , apply Rust Penetrant and Inhibitor D7AZ-19A501-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M99C56-A to the inboard and outboard wheel hub/knuckle mating surface and allow to soak.

    Remove wheel hub from front wheel knuckle .

Installation
  1. NOTE: If wheel hub is damaged or if any end play is detectable, replace wheel hub . End play is not adjustable. If wheel hub is disassembled, the assembly must be replaced.

    Remove all foreign material from knuckle bearing bore for correct seating of new wheel hub.
  1. Lightly lubricate mating surfaces of bearing corner and front wheel knuckle.
  1. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Knuckle bore must be clean enough to allow wheel hub to be completely seated by hand. Do not press or draw wheel hub into place.
    Position wheel hub in front wheel knuckle . Install three new hub and bearing retaining bolts. Tighten to 83-107 Nm (61-78 lb-ft).
  1. Push front wheel driveshaft joint into wheel hub . Hand start front wheel hub retainer.
  1. Slowly release Rotunda Spring Compressor 014-00781 or equivalent while guiding lower ball joint into front suspension lower arm .
  1. Install new lower ball joint nut. Tighten to 68-92 Nm (50-67 lb-ft).
  1. Install tie rod end into front wheel knuckle . Install new slotted nut and tighten to 47-63 Nm (35-46 lb-ft). If necessary advance nut to install a new cotter pin.
  1. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Use extreme care not to damage boot seal. Do not use power tools to tighten nut or bearing and seal damage will result. Install nut using hex hold feature to prevent the stud from rotating.
    Install stabilizer bar link to front shock absorber . Install stabilizer bar link nut. Tighten to 77-103 Nm (57-75 lb-ft). For SHO vehicles, install stud cover.
  1. NOTE: Remove rust from the rotor and hub mating surfaces with a medium abrasive pad.

    Install front disc brake rotor and disc brake caliper . Tighten caliper anchor bracket bolts to 88-118 Nm (65-87 lb-ft).
  1. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: The front axle wheel hub retainer must be tightened to specification immediately during installation. If the retainer is not tightened immediately, the nylon lock will set incorrectly, leading to incorrect torque readings and bearing failure. Any front wheel hub retainer that is not immediately tightened to specification or is loosened must be removed and a new retainer installed.
    Install front axle wheel hub retainer . Tighten to 230-275 Nm (170-203 lb-ft).
  1. Install wheel and tire. Tighten lug nuts (1012) to 115-142 Nm (85-104 lb-ft).
  1. Lower vehicle.
  1. Pump brake pedal prior to moving vehicle to position brake linings.

Can not get the rotors off my 97 hyundai tibaron

Hyundai Tiburon 96-01 uses a outer hub system. To replace front rotors. You'll need front bearings as well. The bearing and hub will need to be pressed out of the spindal. Then replacement of bearing will need to be pressed in. From a shop.Or they can use a slide hammer to remove ,but damages the bearing. Best to buy bearing and have cash for an alignment job too.Then replace front rotors. Rotor and hub install is ez after you get bearing pressed.Rear rotor and bearing are bolt on though.

Can't figure out how to replace the rear rotor hub.

Your emergency break shoes might be holding you up from geeting the hub off there inside the hub, i think on the back side there should be a slot to get a ajustment tool in there to back them off. If not a big hammer is in order there also might be clips on the wheel studs from the factory. No you don't have to remove the axel. Your the best judge of what needs to be replaced your there, but i would say the ovious rotor, caliper, break pads, and maybe emergency break shoes, maybe backing plate.

Remove the front disc rotor

The rotor and hub assembly are held together by the studs,you must first remove the 4-wheel drive hub assembly,then the wheel bearing nuts,and pull the hub and rotor off as a unit. Next lay it(back down) on a piece of wood, using a drift punch drive the studs out. Turn it over ,lay it(face down) on a block of wood, line the new stud splines up with the grooves in the hub and drive them in with the punch and reassemble. A set of dentist style picks will be helpful with the clip in the 4wd hub and a 4 lug 4wd nut wrench will be needed.
