SOURCE: Check Engine light

that code definition is "Evap high purge flow fault". It means you may have a problem with the evaporative system. this system routes fuel fumes back to the fuel tank. If you want to try and clear this code, find the radio code for your car and then disconnect the battery for 30 seconds. Reconnect the battery and the check engine light should be out. You will then need the radio code to reset your car stereo. the check engine light may stay off if the condition was a transient one. If not, the light will come back on after you drive the car two drive cycles. That is: two starts, warm ups and shut downs. If the light returns, have a mechanic check it out.

SOURCE: 2006 kia rio check engine light on and code P0455

A code p0455 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:

  • A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
  • A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
  • Other leak or damaged piece in EVAP system

With a p0455, the most common repair is to:
  • Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
  • Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or
  • Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum noise or smell fuel), repair if necessary

Where on 2006 Kia Rio is the egr valve located?

In a 2006 Kia Rio, the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve is typically located on the engine, near the intake manifold. The EGR valve is responsible for recirculating a small amount of exhaust gas back into the intake manifold to lower the combustion temperature and reduce the formation of nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions.
The exact location of the EGR valve can vary depending on the engine type, but it is usually found on the top or side of the engine near the intake manifold or throttle body. It may be mounted to the intake manifold or to a separate bracket. It is usually a cylindrical shaped valve and it may have vacuum or electrical connector.
You may consult your vehicle's service manual or a professional mechanic to locate the EGR valve specifically on your 2006 Kia Rio.

This is the same information that us Kia techs use to diagnose vehicles. Lots of useful information. For your particular vehicle, lookup a 2003 for the timing belt information. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
