SOURCE: where is the crankshaft sensor

I just replaced the crankshaft sensor back in November. It is a bit of work to access, but you will find it on the inner crankshaft sprocket. This is under the lower timing belt cover. It is just a black sensor that partially covers the sprocket. You will need to remove the serpentine belts and outer crankshaft sprocket to access it. At the time I needed to change it, I also happened to be changing the timing belts as well so if you need those done soon, this would be a good time to get them done.

I have an 03 kia optima lx my car will cut off while I'm driving. Can you please tell me what the problem is. I would very much appreciate your input on this matter

this is caused by the crankshaft position sensor located behind the timing belt. this sensor cuts off the power to the spark plug so the car won't start. it happened with my kia and then everything went fine!

Where is the crank shaft sensor on a 2006 kia optima

Hi LIsa:
On 2001-2005 vehicles the crankshaft sensor is mounted on the front of the transmission case adjacent to the flywheel.

On 2006 vehicles the crankshaft position sensor is located next to the radiator hose inlet and outlet assembly.

I really hope this helps, and just keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Have a nice day and thanks for using FixYa.
