It should be part of the cooling fan module located on or near the fan housing depends if you have a/c trace the wiring from the cooling fan motors and you should locate it but the fans are controlled by the ecm. engine control module so that may not be the problem it may be perhaps a engine temp sensor there is 2 or a a/c prob if s got it.hope this helps

SOURCE: LOCATION FAN RELAY

The relay is under the right front headlamp assembly and bracket. You can access it two ways. Remove the front bumper facia, headlights, and bracket assembly. The grill is part of the facia and the headlight bracket runs all the way across the front. Or you can remove the right headlamp and use a hole saw to cut through the bracket, it is a plastic material.

SOURCE: Where is location of cooling fan relay?

Under the hood on the drivers side, just forward of the shock tower, you will see what is called an "under hood fuse center". On the cover you can see the various fuses and relays that are located in the fuse center.
One of those relays is the coolant fan relay. Remove the top cover of the fuse center to gain access to the relay.
Hope this answers your question, good luck.

SOURCE: locate fan relay

There are three cooling fan relays in the fuse block under the hood.

b891122.gif

The fan relays above are numbered 37,39 and 40

Relay 37 is RH fan
Relays 39 and 40 are LH fan.

You can check if your fans are working by switching on the air con.
Are you having overheating problems?

Regards.

Both aux fans remain on from cold startup. is it more likely the radiator temp switch than the fan relay?

fan relay more than likely, but I think think it would stay on all the time even with key off, could be wrong tho. sounds to me like you have your air condition on, or heater set to defrost as defrost basically runs the air conditioning compressor and cooling fans when defrost is on.

Cooling fan location need relay

Up thru the left front fender well, From below, with the lower splash shield closing panel removed, and looking up. It's mounted on a bracket in front of the emission canister (round black cylinder).

Separate the connector in the harness, between the fans and the relay, and make sure it is not burned up. There are also two fuses for the fan circuit, I believe.

Fan

You have to replace the fan relay. Go to http://alldatadiy.com/ and you can buy a subscription for your car. It has the locations of all the electrical components. The subscription is good for 1 year and will be very helpful to you in the future. Well worth the small cost.

1998 jaguar xj8 fan is on

I have a 1997 XJ6 that had the problem with the cooling fans running constantly. I had to remove the fuse to turn it off to keep the battery from running down. It turned out my solution was that an A/C sensor on the firewall (there are two) was bad. When I replaced it the problem went away.
