My 2008 audi a5 is not getting any power to the key or anything in the dash area. It has power to passenger door an trunk lights come on but not much else. I have checked all the fuses I found but none blown. I'm hearing there are some on the battery cable itself, could this be where I need to check? Any help or ideas would be gladly appreciated.

If you still get power to trunk, then its no the battery wire fuse. have you checked both fuse boxes? one under the dash & the one in the engine compartment. some times fuse may look good. check the fuse base to see if there is any melting or burnt marks.

SOURCE: 96 audi a4 dash lights out cant resolve this problem

I have a 98 with the same problem, I solved it by ordering new bulbs (9 total) from

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/details/QQAudiQQA4_QuattroQQOEQQQInstrument_Light_BulbQQ19962001QQW0133-1642714.html

make sure you get at least 9 and replace all the bulbs because as I would replace the ones that were burnt out it'd burn the old ones out. The original ones are orange I believe. Some of them looked fine but were actually burnt. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: 97 audi a4 no power/battery fuse?

Sounds like either the battery leads are on the wrong way round, or the starter main cable is touching something and shorting to earth. Retrace your steps and check your connection locations.
Either that or its a dead short through the starter. Remove main cable from back of starter and tape up incase of short. then reconnect battery. If ok now then your looking at starter motor.

SOURCE: 2002 jeep liberty - limited - electrical problem

Just found 2002 Liberty problem with lights and back tailgate door latch and interior lights and radio. Had them working off and on and then blowing Fuse # 34 off and on. Thought maybe BCM control module stuff. Turned out to be Drivers side Visor wiring crimped through and shorted out at the were it is attached to the ceiling.
Totally cut through. If you remove visor screws chech the wiring there. So far everything is up and running.

Take out the 30th fuse from SB42, in the instrument panel fuse box for 30 seconds and then reinstall. This will reset the control module.

  • Wipers
  • AutoLamps
  • Rear Defrost
  • Interior Lamps(dome)
  • High Beam Indicator only (cluster)
  • Low Coolant indicator
  • Key-in Buzzer
  • Seatbelt indicator only (Cluster)
  • Trunk Pop Relay
  • Power Locks
  • Door Ajar Sensors
  • Door Keyless entry pad
  • Remote Keyless Entry
  • One Touch Down (power window)
  • Air Bag Tone
  • Anti Theft (perimeter Alarm) (SEL, or SE(s) with mods)
  • Lift gate ajar (wagon)
  • Liftgate Pop
  • Accessory Delay signal (accessory that work after engine off, prior to door ajar)
  • Battery Saver Relay signal (accessory that work after engine off, 15 mins) Map lights, vanity mirrors

They are located behind the radio in the dash and they are $$$ about 600 USD.

This is usually caused by broken plastic parts in the lock system. The best would be to verify and lub all locks and check out the elecrical.

My gas cap and trunk wont open. I need gas. Te button on the console won't release the gas cap to open or the trunk. Audi TT 2002.

Take your key and go to the drivers door, make sure the door is unlocked by pulling on the handle, open and close the door. Insert the key and "lock" the door, double check that it is locked by pulling on the handle. Insert the key and "un-lock" the door, use the handle to open the door and now press the fuel door key and it should open, same for trunk release button.

Audi's are a strange breed, sometimes you just need to "re-set" some stuff. But in the future if you lock the car with the key, the fob will unlock the car but the three buttons in the console will not work, the fob will function correctly.

I hope this helps.
