It will depend on what vehicle it is. Some have a small plastic cap inside the handle cup hiding a cross head screw that holds it in place. Other makes will need you to take the whole door card off and remove it from the inside of the panel.

SOURCE: how do i replace interior

You have to remove the door trim, and you will see 2 screws holding yhe handle to door. Remove handle, remove clip from rod and refit new handle in reverse order.

SOURCE: How do you replce broken door handle?

This is a problem that you should be able to fix. With the interior door panel there are 3 screws. 2 in the arm rest and 1 on the door handle(opener), take those out. There is a C-clip on the window crank that needs to be removed. They make a cheap little tool to remove those but I've heard people using a shop rag and removing the c clip. To remove it, turn crank to around 9 oclock then slide the tool or rag behind the crank also coming from 9 oclock. Any position will work, my point being the tool must slide in from behind the crank handle. Use a flat head screwdriver to gently pry the edges of the door panel away. There are some little clips that pop loose. It's okay if some break you can buy more. After that you will slide the door handle (opener) forward a little to pop out. Twist and turn the panel to get it over the door handle. There are 2 bolts that hold the handle on from the inside. They are 10 mm. You can reach the most forward one pretty easy but the back one is taken out through a hole in the metal door panel. Mine had a sticker over the hole with a big yellow dot on it. After that it takes some pretty good force to get the handle out of the hole. Don't be afraid to push on it. When it pops out take some wire cutters and cut the little plastic clip that holds the metal rod to the handle. The lock twists out of the hole. Now this is when you need 3 hands. Hold the new handle close to the opening and twist the lock into position. Don't attach the metal rod yet. Now actually put your key in the lock. This helps you hold the lock in the correct position while inserting the handle. Put the top of the handle in first and then the bottom should snap in next. Now from the inside, reach up and slide metal rod in the hole and rotate the plastic clip to secure it. Now the hardest thing is getting that back bolt in. It helps again to leave the key in the lock and rotate it so the bolt can secure the locking mechanism to the handle. Put the front bolt in reinstall the interior door panel and you should be in business. Good Luck

SOURCE: Interior Door Handle

This was a three minute repair, once I had the replacement handle. Leave the door panel alone! Remove the single screw holding the old handle in place. Use a flat blade screwdriver to jimmy the old handle away from the door about an inch. There are two plastic clips holding it to the rods, one for the locking mechanism and one for the latch. Use the flat blade screwdriver to unclip these two connectors. Remove the broken latch, and don't worry, the rods won't disappear into the door! Reverse these steps with the new handle (insert rods, attach clips, wiggle assembly into place, and fasten with single screw). You're done!

SOURCE: Broker Dodge Nitro Door Handle

I had my hadle break the other day. I went to the dealership and they wanted $170.00 to replace. The door handle was $60 by it self (for a piece of plastic)!! I read a solution on here that used epoxy putty (JB Weld for Plastic) find it at your hardware store and it worked. Pushing the latch out to touch the handle, I used the epoxy putty on the break and taped the handle to the door to apply pressure and now it's strong as steel. I spent $5.50 for the epoxy putty and saved over $160. Let another handle break, I'm ready!!!!

remove the screws that fasten the interior door panel to the door.  Visually inspect the handle assembly. there will be two cables that connect the handle and lock button to the door lock assembly.  I would bet that the L-shaped end of the interior door handle cable broke.  The replacement is self explanatory for the handle. Google the door lock assembly which isn't as visable.  Bob

Installing driver side interior door handle

pull the inner panel off by first un screwing the two screws located on the handle portion of the panel(they may have plastic hadeaway covers over the heads) then remove the window rolldown handle(if so equipped, manual window)then pull the plastic trangle from the inner of the mirror(this little tri angle keeps the trim down and secure on the door. then pull the palnel directly out there are small clasp pins in behind the panel try not to break these(but they do sell replacements at your local auto store) you will have to get ALL of these free then wiggle the panel up releasing it from the inner shell of the door and and window. you should now have a clean view of the handle. you will now need to droll out the rivit holding the handle to the inner steel of the door. pull the handle forward and it should be released from the inner steel now there clips holding the "rods" to the handles back side, they should have a little piece clipped to the rodto un clip these you need only push them off with your thumb. then replace handle with the new one, and uce a large steel screw to secure the handle when replacing back on door.
