Two possible causes of the starter failing to disengage - either the starter is seizing internally or the solenoid is remaining energised - checking for a supply to the solenoid when the key is turned off will provide the necessary information - whether to investigate the circuit or whether to remove the starter and service.

well the low cost way to go first would be to try and change the trans fluids. If the problems still remains the it may be an internal problem

SOURCE: Location of thermostat 2003 Mitsubetsi Eclipse 4

The thermostat is found at the end of the top radiator hose . Find the top radiator hose and follow it to the engine .There you will find a thermostat housing with the end of the hose attached . There will be 2 bolts holding down the housing to the engine. Undo the bolts and pull the housing off and the thermostat will be there.

When you changed the battery the computer must re-learn the setting again. If it continues have a OBD II reader plugged in and check for codes.

2003 mitsubishi eclipse rs wont start i already repalced the starter...where is the starter relay at

The relay is located in the relay box under the hood in the relay box. I suggest you Google "relay location 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse" for the exact location. For troubleshooting purposes, once you locate the relay, simply swap it with an identical relay within the relay box. If it still fails to start, then it is not the relay.

Won't start not the battery it wants to start but clicks

Hi. This could be a starter problem. If the battery is OK, the starter solenoid, starter cables or the starter motor itself could be a problem.

2001 mitsubishi eclipse won't start.

I had the same problem with my 2001 Eclipse last week. Headlights, Radio and such all worked but the car would not crank up. Sounds like your "starter" needs to be replaced. The "Starter will have the solnoid attched to it also" Remove he "Starter and take it tested at an Advance Auto store for free.

To remove the starter you will have to raise the car up, and remove the small metal heat shield.
