Hello SUBY bro, we've got an 05 Leagcy 2.5i

IMHO you shouldn't be driving on ice unless/maybe your car is equipped with studded tires. Although our cars are awd we'll all be squirrely (and more) on ice......Check this out:

SOURCE: 2000 subaru outback electrical, right front

depends on what code readings you are getting....some auto parts stores will connect a diagnositc computer to your car and tell you for free what codes the system is tellg you...however they wont provide diagnosis for you.,..so when you get the codes...come back and tell us and provide more info on how the car is behaving and we can provide some problematic diagnosis that you can base your decision to repair/replace

SOURCE: Diagnostic Trouble Code P1705

Code 1705 is brand specific, for Toyota it is for a problem with a clutch sensor inside the transmission.
The sensor would need to be tested by a mechanic or someone with the tools and diagnostic info.

How to replace a neutral safety switch on a 2000 ford taurus 3.0l 24v s code engine

code p 1705 refers to manual lever position sensor out of self test range
it would appear that you are looking at the incorrect sensor
the neutral switch is probably some where else and only works when the selector is in a position to allow it to switch on as in neutral position

2000 subaru outback automatic shifts in reverse but wont go into drive set for 3 days mechanic said it started to work? 2nd time it did this this week. he thinks its electrical but gives no codes

This problem could only be diagnosed is by downloading he fault codes from the transmission control module (TCM) you need to go to your Subaru dealer. I have access to the codes, but you need to know what codes are grenerated by your transmission.
