I have a new Peugeot 3008 SUV auto. I have been told the gearbox monitors the way I drive, so if I am too heavy on the gas pedal the mpg will be poor but drive carefully and get good mpg.

Does the gearbox have technology built into to do this?

The gearbox adjusts when it changes gear to match the way you drive. If you are heavy footed It will change gear at a different rev level compared to a gentle driving method. Some models have a "Cheat" where you can reset the gearbox using the pedals and ignition in a set order. Unfortunately I don't.know the sequence for Peugeot gearboxes.
The 'Heavy on the Gas' idea applies to both manual and auto gearboxes.

SOURCE: Poor Fuel Mileage 2006 Hyundai Sonata 2.4 motor

I don't know from where you bought the car but do you feel certain that typical causes such as fouled plugs or clogged air filters are not at fault?
Most dealers, even the shlocks don't normally skimp on the simple stuff but who knows about a private source?
That does seem low, especially the city numbers. I don't think Hyundai is any leader in gas mileage but they are better than what you are getting.

SOURCE: POOR GAS MILEAGE 1997 Neon (DOHC)

A very simple and inexpensive solution to this dilemma is to replace the fuel filter. Sometimes they get particles in the fuel system that get caught up in the filter, and plug it up. They are generally inexpensive, and the change takes less than half an hour. If you are mechanically inclined, you can even do it yourself. Buy a Haynes manual specific to your car, and you can learn to do the simple things yourself, saving a ton of money! It is worth the effort.

SOURCE: auto gearbox

if it has a dip stick under the bonnet you need to have the engine running with the box in neutral then dip the oil
if the engine is warm then it should read around the top mark, if the engine us cold then it should rear around the lower mark
if there is no dip stick then there is no way of checking the level and you will need to drain the box and re fill with the correct ammount through the gearbox breather on the top

How to reset the TPMS sensors light on the 2010 Peugeot 3008

To reset the TPMS light on a Peugeot 3008 from 2010, you will need to follow these steps:
Turn on the ignition without starting the engine.
Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the remote key for five seconds until the car locks and unlocks.
Wait for two minutes or drive at a speed of 20 km/h or more for about five minutes until the system automatically recalibrates itself.
If the light does not turn off, check the tire pressure on all four tires and make sure they are inflated to the recommended pressure.
If the pressure is correct and the light still won't turn off, you may need to take your vehicle to a professional mechanic or Peugeot dealership to have the TPMS system diagnosed and repaired.

Peugeot 3008 camshaft sensor location

The camshaft position sensor on a Peugeot 3008 can be located in different positions depending on the engine model and year of manufacture. Here are the possible locations:
  1. On the engine cylinder head: In some Peugeot 3008 models, the camshaft position sensor is mounted on the engine cylinder head, near the camshaft.
  2. Near the timing belt cover: In some other models, the camshaft position sensor is located near the timing belt cover. It can be either on the engine block or on the cylinder head.
  3. Behind the camshaft pulley: In some Peugeot 3008 models, the camshaft position sensor is located behind the camshaft pulley.
To locate the camshaft position sensor on your specific Peugeot 3008 model, you should consult your owner's manual or a repair manual for your vehicle. Alternatively, you can seek the assistance of a professional mechanic or a Peugeot dealer.

Poor gas mileage on my 1993 dodge caravan

If you want fuel economy then dump this beast and buy a nice peugeot or citreon picasso diesel manual then you will get around 30 mpg around town and anything up to 70 mpg on a run ,try paying our fuel prices and this nice typical american petrol gas burner would be delegated to the classic car sunday drive out like my jag with its 4lt engine i can only afford to take it out once a month or so on a jaguar club run around ,other than that its my ford diesel manual escort with its 0 to 60 in 15 minutes but it only uses one tank of fuel a month.

Ekse are you there ? pontiac Montana 1999 van, drives then about third gear (automatic) will not shift, just grinds sometimes whole van shakes, then losses power? I want to do a flush and check the...

Doing a ****** flush as you call it stateside is a waste of time in this case as if its changing up to 3rd then locking up this is a serious problem like a gear siezed up in the gearbox and when this gear ratio is being used this is causing the problem,my best advice is to ditch the auto box and fit a manual gearbox if one is made for this vehicle,or trade it in for a nice renault kangoo or a citreon berlingo even the VW version all diesel engines with a manual gearbox and all these vehicles will give over 50 MPG around town and approaching 70 MPG on a nice steady run .Your gas guzzler is past its sell by date thats for sure and to even change the gearbox with one from a scrapyard on a 12 yr old vehicle is beyond economic repair for a old vehicle like this and still have a petrol eating monster ,try paying 7 dollars a gallon for petrol then think if iam talking correctly from my perspective

Chevrolet captiva 2.0 lt poor mpg captiva has

I also have a Chevy Captiva 2L Diesel but with the auto box. The MPG on that one is abysmally bad! I bought it a few weeks ago with just under 30K miles on the clock (2007 model), and it returns around 230 miles on a full tank! That's around 17 MPG and probably on par with a Hummer!!
I was expecting the auto box to be less efficient than the manual of course but not to consume twice as much. Anyone out there with any ideas as to why this could be? I was actually already checking under the car to see if it loses fuel... We live in the suburbs and our trips can be considered a mix of urban and extra urban (they are admittedly on the short side and from a cold winter start; still, this doesn't justify the extremely low MPG). The car seems adequately powered for its weight and considering the small'ish engine and auto box.
Thanks!

Honda Civic 1.6 vtech Inspire 03 with poor fuel consumption

this car is fitted with a computer controlled engine/gearbox it will try to make you drive as economically as poss, if you let it,Try this, without using the gas padal let the car accelerate all the way to top gear on its own then from stop use 1/3rd of gas pedal upto top gear, try not to assist acceleration let it do its own thing.if you can drive like this all the time gas mileage will be considerably higher.it is made this way because makers have been told to reduce power/gas consumption in all cars....of course you can use kickdown but watch your fuel guage....

I have 2002 ford focus new spark plug and wire and air filter and fuel filter snd i still have a very poor gas milage

It could be 2 things. The grade of gas you're using and / or your style of driving. Bump up to the next level of gas and don't put your foot into it as much. Get off the gas earlier when coming to a stop. I have a full size SUV and I average 24 MPG city.
