if you have an adjusting bolt to loosen, check that the pivot bolt has been loosened as well, also see if you have a bolt operated tensioning device on the adjusting bolt, will look like a bolt screwed into the adjusting bolt, let me know

Changing alternator 2007 dodge nitro

I looked at info for the 3.7L engine, looks fairly straight forward. Take negative battery cable loose and isolate. Remove generator belt. Remove electrical connector from generator. Remove bolts from generator. Remove generator.
If your going to work on your own vehicle, you need a basic set of tools, wrenches and sockets, standard and metric sizes. I don't know the actual socket or wrench size.

How to replace alternator on 1988 Buick regal

You will need to rent or borrow the tool that releases tension on the serpentine belt.Start by removing the black - battery cable. Then it's just a matter of removing the bolts holding the alternator on the engine. After the alternator is loose, remove the red wire from the alternator.

What's your problem?1995 gmc safari alternator replacement. Need some kind of diagramed overview of the alternator and how it connects, what it looks like, how to do it basically

Hello! First see Serpentine Belt configuration diagram below... Alternator is part "C"...

If you have a voltmeter...read across the battery with engine off...Record...Start engine read again...Voltage must be 1.8 -2 volts higher; This means Alternator is working...

To Remove:disconnect (-) battery cable...Air Inlet Duct...Serpentine Belt (idler pulley maintains tension)...Heater hose brace...Wiring from Alternator...Mounting bolts...Remove alternator...

To Install: Install Alternator loosely...Tighten Rear Bolt to 37 ft. lbs...Front bolt to 18ft. lbsTighten Brace to Intake to 18ft lbs....Connect wiring...Install belt...Adjust Idler Pulley so belt moves less than 3/4" when tight...Connect (-) battery cable....Re-test as noted above...Guru...........Saaile

How to adject generater blet on 1972 VW

To adjust the belt tension on a 72 you can slightly loosen the bolts that hold the alternator in place, pull the alternator towards the outside of the loop the belt makes, then re-tighten the alternator bolts. If you can't get enough tension through the adjustment you'll need to replace the belt.

Removing power steering pump from 97 Park Ave

you have to remove the alternator and the bracket that holds the alternator. When you remove the bracket be very careful. the inlet and outlet for the heater core run through this bracket. Once you remove the 3 bolts holding it you'll need to work it back and forth as you pull. Do not try to pry or force it because you'll break off the outlet pipe that leads in to the engine block. The pipe is sealed with an o-ring. If it's real stubborn shoot a little wd-40 on it and that should help make it easier to pop out.

Alternator

it is an easier way to remove an alternator.
1.-disconnect the battery
2.- take the right side tire off(make sure it is a tower under the car for safety)
3.- diconnect the harnest from the alternator from under the vehicle, and the nut the holds the holds the positive cable too.
4.- use a long extention with a flex socket size 15mm and a ratchet to remove the two bolts from the alternator. This two bolt will have to be remove from under the car.
5.- the last bolt have to be remove from an top of the car. Usiing a mid size flex ratchet and a regular 15mm socket.
6. After the last bolt is removed the alternator will have to be remove from top of the egine.

hope this instructions can help anybody.
