2000 Oldsmobile Bravada. It was purchased with the ignition key missing. The car had the ignition cylinder drilled with all but 3/4" of the ignition cylinder remaining. The battery was replaced. The fuel pump replaced. It started & ran. The fuel tank wasn't mounted right. New fuel pump was not locked onto gas tank. When gas tank and fuel pump improperly installed engine will not start. Assume that I am passlock 2 was keeping the engine from starting. Replaced the drilled out lock cylinder. Engine still did not start. Try to teach the ECU and register the new lock cylinder. No joy! Check pressure to fuel rail but not with pressure gauge. Observed the cycling of the fuel pump and pressure at the fuel rail test point. Thinking that either passlock 2 not being registered fully would keep from engine some running! I noticed the three wires to the hall effect on the ignition housing. There is also two wires to what seems to be a switch going to the ignition cylinder housing with a small plastic housing. This switch would not clip into place the button on this assembly was stuck. I don't know the correct way this switch / sensor Clips or mounts to the lock cylinder housing. What are start interlocks are on a 2000 Oldsmobile and how would anyone of them keep the engine from staying running? I don't have the schematic diagrams and would appreciate some help!

If you've done the relearn three times and it still doesn't work, you probably have a bad lock cylinder CASE that was damaged during drilling. Bad case is the most common problem with these old systems. Replace the lock cylinder case and then do the relearn 3 times

SOURCE: 2000 Jeep Grand cherokee Laredo

sounds alot the the pcm it controls the fuel pump and ign system but the anti theft would keep it from starting because the key has a transponder in it programmed for that vehicle and that would kill all ign if triggered

I lost my van key for 2000 Chevy Astro have to work in the morning but can't afford a key made any suggestions on how to hot wirel

Go down to the local parts store and purchase a New Ignition key, Remove the old key cylinder and install the new one. This isn't really all that easy to replace. It must be drilled out to a point where you can get it to turn like you are starting the vehicle to get the pin to release and let the cylinder slide out of the steering column lightly blow and wipe this cylinder hole out till it clean with no drill shavings in it. Install the new key cylinder. Hope this helps Had to do this on Vacation in Biloxi, Miss. I'm from Texas with very little tools and I didn't have the $350 they wanted to make another key either.

My 1998 Olds Bravada has the key stuck in the ignition. I paid to have a new ignition key cylinder put in, but the new one does the same thing. The key will start the car etc. but won't come out of...

I know in the newer versions of the Bravada, Trailblazers, Envoys, the ignition switch itself is always the culprit. Not the switch the key goes in, but it's located under the steering wheel column. I know how to replace the newer ones but not yours. That's the first place I'd look.

Is there a security system that doesnt allow you to start the oldsmobile brevada if it doesnt recognise the driver.

Yes, it works off of the key tho. Your key has either a chip in the shaft or a transponder in the plastic head that sends signal to the ignition/lock cylinder. The ignition then sends a signal to the TDM (theft deterrent module) also known as the "computer". The TDM then allows your starter to start. If there is a break anywhere in this system, the vehicle goes into security mode and shuts down the starter or injectors. The hard part is finding which area is causing the problem. Mechanics can change every part before "fixing" the problem. Ive had the best luck with just bypassing the entire system. Here is a link that explains the problem and a PERMINANT solution that you can do yourself. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

2000 Olds Bravada Key operates all electrics but will not turn ignition Could key be faulty

ignition switch has a anti-theft type lockout in the electronic switch inside steering column - have also had mine do this due to bad connection at the battery - remove both battery bolts and clean terminal and make sure you have a good connection - have also had my starter go out and does same thing - all lights and electronics but no start - had all 3 of these on my bravada in one week!!

On a 2000 olds Bravada the key wont turn off all the way

you need to replace the whole ignition switch assembly, the swtch may be secured with what you call shear bolts which may have to be drilled out, only you can decide if you are capable of doin this, new bolts should be supplied with the new swith, when you retighten the bolts, the heads will shear off when they are tight enough, the aim of these are to prevent theives making a quick ignition change to steal your car
