07 malibu wont start, not turning over

I have an 07 malibu that wont start, isnt even turning over. Happened once before, so I drove my truck Instead. Came back and it fored up and hasn't given me trouble until now. Hasn't started for 2 days. I checked fuses and replaced a couple relays. Fuel pump is kicking on. Put a new battery in to no avail. My inner mechanic says ignition switch, but he also says its probably some bs sensor or security issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ignition switch or neutral safety switch are two areas I would test . Try cranking it in neutral . Check for power to the starter and a crank signal at starter solenoid .

Try rotating engine by hand first. If it rotates proceed to next step. After verifying battery and battery cables condition, check voltage at the starter solenoid small wire while someone tries to start it, if power is ok and still doesn't crank, replace starter. If no power is present while trying to start it, trace back to relay and ignition switch.

Check your battery terminals and battery.
If the terminals are corroded or loose then this will happen.
If need be, remove the terminals from the battery and clean thoroughly both terminals and terminal clamps. Fit them back on and tighten.
Try starting the car, if it starts and all is good, spread vasoline, or some grease over the terminals to prevent it from corroding. If it doesn’t start then the battery will need replacing. If you have a multi meter check the voltage first. Anything under 11.5 volts will not start this car.

SOURCE: 02 Blazer wont Start, Passlock?

I had the same problem when I replaced my multiswitch. I set off the "passlock 2" system that my blazer was equipped with because I didn't disconnect the battery before I took out the bad switch and put in a new one. That ended up blowing a fuse labeled "TBC." Its located in the fuse box in the engine compartment. Its a 10 amp. I know you said you checked all the fuses, but I would double check that one.

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter. The fuel filter should be replaced every 15,000 miles or once a year to ensure the fuel system is running 100%. Auto Zone will have the fuel filter and can give you the step by step instructions to getting the job done with common tools. If it's the fuel pump failure, you have not gotten the car restarted. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know you got your car running 100% again soon and please rate.

SOURCE: 1995 nissan pickup truck fuel problem

Fuel injected or carb? Make sure fuel line itself is clear. Some pumps are designed to self regulate (carb systems) some continually pump and a psi regulator sends back the excess fuel back to the tank (fuel inj systems) If the line is obstructed then pump can't deliver fuel fulltime.

If you think pump is not on consistent, try running a dedicated wire through a switch directly to the pump. If it works then you are looking for an electrical fault going to pump. Good luck.

i assume its a carb motor. if so i would first check the vacuum box for broken or loose lines, if the problem isnt there i would look to see if there is a loose wire by your thermostat. if theres a wire ground it to the thermostat bolt. these have both worked when the same thing happened to me.

Probes/Mazdas have issues with their distributor you might pull a wire and check for spark. There was one time i even had spark and still had to change the distributor, you might be able to find a local used solution instead of new just make sure they have some kind of warranty.

Drove the van through water, parked turned it off. Went to start the car 1 1/2 hours later, it won't start. Plenty of battery power, no spark.

sometimes water can collect or condense inside the distributor cap and prevent starting. It's happened to me more than once. If it won't even turn over you may have hydro-locked the engine by sucking water through the intake but you didn't mention that important tidbit I'm guessing it does turn.

Suddenly will not start

I had this problem that the malibu would not start sometimes. It turned out to be a computer chip. The dealership informed me that they had tested it earlier after we had it towed to their shop and told me it started fine. I wife drove to work and when leaving it would not start the dealership towed without charge and found out it was a computer chip problem.[
