SOURCE: torque wrench settings for ford focus thermostat

There is a set spec, but for the DIY mechanic,,
Using a !/4 " drive, with the correct long socket, apply a FIRM effort on the wrench, but obviously not too much, as to sheer the studs. Always use a NEW gasket on all mating surfaces.

I have Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost 2012. I have experienced an intermittent problem where I get a loss of power (turbo not working)and car goes into "limp" mode. No warning light appears and the car

thats sounds like a possible boost control solenoid failure.when the boost solenoid fails it wont activate a warning light and because of the lack of boost the engine computer fail safe feature will put it in limp mode in order to keep the driver from harming the engine

How reliable is the Ford Focus?

Depends on the year and trim. I like the older single overhead camshaft 2.0l SPI models. They have engine code "P".
Zetec DOHC "3" are powerful, but may drop a valve seat as it ages. I haven't heard much about the 2.3l duratecs, but I suppose that's a good thing. I have heard reports of the new ecoboost motors having trouble, but I bet that's because of people putting regular 87 gas into a turbocharged engine. Turbos need high octane. At anyrate; keep it tuned, change the oil, and keep it under 90. Follow the owner's manual instructions, and you will have no trouble with a Focus or Escort.

Focus Sport Underdrive Crank Pulley Installation This How-To Library article is for the FocusSport crank pulley, which as indicated on the FocusSport product information page, includes a 6061 aluminum lightweight crank underdrive pulley and a new Goodyear Gatorback accessory belt. The FocusSport crank pulley underdrives your accessories by 23%. This, in turn, decreases the drag on the engine, unleashing power that you never knew you had. And since the FocusSport (7.6 ounces) crank underdrive pulley is lighter than OEM (3 lbs. 4 ounces) crank pulley, you'll benefit from the weight reduction of rotating mass; resulting in a more responsive engine. FocusSport crank underdrive pulleys come in a red anodized finish. (Product description taken directly from the FocusSport product page...) 4. Install the new pulley on the crank.
    • There is a keyway on the crank that the pulley must fit over.
    • Push it firmly into place by hand first, to avoid binding when you torque it.

  5. Torque the bolt to 85-91 lb-ft.
    • This is tricky if you don't have an impact, so try to find one.
