Your looking for the turbine speed sensor a.k.a transmission speed sensor and not the vechile spees sensor correct? they are two different sensors! the transmission speed sensor is on the side of the transmission facing the side of the car around 11 o'clock in relation to the output shaft witch is where the cv axle goes in! if it is the vechile speed sensonr then it is on top of the transmission tail house for the other output shaft and the other cv goes too. if you follow the transmisssion dip stick down to the transmission it is in that area! good luck

SOURCE: i need help finding where the transmission speed

its located on the tranny directly below the intake manifold. i think its about $35 or $40 to get one at a parts store.it sticks out at about a 45 degree angle pointed towards the drivers seat. you may have to get on top of the car and reach your arms down until you find it. theres only one bolt holding it on if i remember correctly. 10mm? i think. if you take it off, its not gonna be fun trying to figure out where the bolt goes back without being able to see. hope this helps.

1997 ford taurus wont shift when hot

If the check engine light is on you should get the codes checked for free at someplace like autozone etc. This could be the torque conver clutch solenoid or the speedometer sensor that causes this.
