My car starts fine first thing in the morning or when it has been left for a length of time.. but if i stop for less than a few hours it just doesnt want to start, have had a new fuel filter, plugs and even a coil pack!!! any ideas???
If no lights (including headlights) come on at all and the car won't turn over you need to make sure the battery cable connections are clean and tight. If you meant you don't get any warning lights on the dash then I would guess your mechanics are wrong (it probably isn't having the staring problem when they are looking at it) about not getting spark. Replace the crank position sensor as it can cause that no hot start problem and it will get worse to where the car stalls when hot and won't restart. A new crank position sensor should solve your problem. Get a few quotes before replacing it because some garages overcharge for working on SAAB's.

no lights come on at all!!! apparently garage say yes there is a spark and they have renewed the fuel filter!!! not sure if i should be trusting the garage or not, seem to be throwing good money after bad.. single mum.. not sure if im being taken for a ride!!!
Does the theft light come on and stay on? Or does it flash? Does the check engine light come on when this happens? Have you had the computer codes scanned? It would be best if you could try to find out weather it's not getting fuel or spark (try using a can of quick start to see if it's a fuel problem).
