Batteries on these cars need to be programmed to the vehicle. You need the dealer or a shop with the Ross Tech VAG-Com tool to set the battery amps in the intelligent control module.

SOURCE: 05 audi a4 convertible top goes half way up and

Happened to me while parking on a slight incline...moving to flat surface alleviated problem. However, my top stuck in down position so dealer replaced the module for $750...probably should be a recall item.

I am interested in replacing my catalytic converters on my Audi A4 1996. I have seen a couple of CC's on the internet and wondered why they are so different in price.

There are many different manufacturers for audi, also make sure you are looking at the correct ones for your engine, either a 2.8 or 1.8T. That is another big difference for the turbo model it comes right off of the turbo.

Engine is using 1/2 qt of oil every 800mi, 1.8T '04 Cabriolet

Your mechanic is spot on. The A4's are notorious for turbo overheating and failure. The oil burn is coming in the TURBO itself and then being distributed to 2.3.4 as a side effect. Your not noticing blue smoke because your catalytic converter is doing its job and the minor smoke being generated is being taken care of in the CAT. If you continue to drive as is you will run a certain risk of catalytic converter damage, cylinder damage from fouling (cylinder wash) build up, sludge, etc. If your mechanic has the knowledge on this specifc model there is a way to test the turbo output and turbo heat generation to absolutely confirm. One last thing. in ANY turbo car its imperative to run QUALITY oils not your local wal-mart brand or no name. Many people are not familiar with the demands on a TURBO engine and oil change facilities pull standard oil from 55 gallon drums via a pump.. so you arent feeding your car properly. The AVG (Audi/Volkswagen) company recommends FULL SYNTHETIC and either Castrol or Mobil 1. I have a Turbo Diesel and use Mobil1 as my choice. The recommended oil for your car via their web page is Current Vehicle: Year: spacer.gif 2003 Make: spacer.gif Audi Model: spacer.gif A4 Quattro Engine Type: spacer.gif 4cyl. 1.8Liter Turbocharged
button_viewprintable.gif spacer.gif Mobil 1 0W-40
A fully synthetic motor oil, Mobil 1 0W-40 with SuperSyn Technology exceeds industry standards and the major leading builder requirements, enabling the product to keep performing well after conventional oils cannot. Mobil 1 is recommended by leading car manufacturers as initial fill

Battery dies on 2003 A4 audi

HI there,

I had the same problem with mine. Managed to determine that it was the rear brake light switch that caused a short. This meant that once the car was turned off power was being drained. We thought it might be the computer module shutting down which can take up to 10/30 minutes. But No. Replaced with a new Brake Light Switch, Problem Solved

Oil for 2007 AUDI A4 2.0t Quatro

The best balance of price, quality, availability that I have found is Mobil1 synthetic - it's on Audi's approved oils list. With the 2.0T engine, you absolutely want to use synthetic (the Audi turbo fours are known for oil sludge issues), and you want to do a SeaFoam treatment every 15k miles or so - that combination will keep your engine in great running shape.
